Don’t Blame the Skillet!
For those that have problems cooking in the skillet, you’re doing it wrong. Sorry but it’s the truth, you have to do your part to learn how to cook in cast iron and especially enameled cast iron because it is a little different.1- The skillet is not nonstick nor does the description say that it is.2 - It is also not meant to be seasoned as some may think is the problem. The interior is sealed with enamel, you can’t season it like bare cast iron. Food won’t stick if you know how to use it.3 - The pan needs to heat up before you put anything in it. If you’ve only ever cooked in nonstick cookware you can get away with starting with too cold of a skillet, cast iron requires the skillet to be hot. I turn the burner to a medium setting and let it heat up for 3-4 minutes along with your choice of oil or cooking spray before putting any food in. Cast iron initially heats un-evenly but retains that heat. That’s also why when cooking delicate things like eggs I actually shut the burner off halfway through as the skillet will retain its heat for quite some time.4 - I got the pan in the photos about a year ago and it cooks food just as great today as it did the first day. My pan hasn’t developed the patina that is mentioned but I tend to throw mine in the dishwasher after wiping it out which will slow that process.5 - And being able to throw this in the dishwasher if you’re feeling extremely lazy is something you’ll never be able to do with regular cast iron.I just bought my second pan and gave it as a gift, these things are great!

I remember growing up in Europe we mostly used cast iron skillets in my family. I don’t know why it took me this long to finally get one of my own. Boy, am I happy I did.

First of all, I’m a bit of a Le Creuset groupie and have collected many pieces over the years including coffee mugs I got as a Christmas gift. This brand has never let me down.

This pan is my now go to frying pan. Although it IS heavy and it’s supposed to be, it’s cast iron ffs, it never fails to cook my dishes perfectly be it eggs, fish, chicken and of course a perfect piece of steak!

I have not experienced any stickiness, simply make sure you pre-heat your skillet first (2-3min) add oil and make sure it’s hot too, then add your food. Cleaning is also very easy. It looks brand new after every use and wash.

I have owned the Le Creuset Signature Iron Handle Skillet for about 2 years and my wife and I love it. This is a heavy weight pan that heats up slowly and provides even heat throughout the cooking surface. Like any iron skillet, the handles will get painfully hot if you cook with this pan long enough. An oven mitt or towel are essential when using this pan. The enamel cooking surface is relatively smooth so a quick spray of PAM or a evenly spread coating of olive oil will prevent your food from sticking.

This is an enamel coated skillet, so it must be cleaned with care. After letting the pan cool, we fill it with warm, soapy water and let it sit while we clean up the rest of the dishes. Most food remains wipe off with a sponge. If any food remains after the sponge cleaning, we let the skillet soak longer and that usually does the trick. After a almost two years of constant use, the cooking surface is still in good shape.

I would highly recommend this skillet.

I've been reading reviews complaining about things sticking to the pan or the coating on the cast iron surface looking bad after a single use, but I haven't had either of those problems. The key is knowing the right temperature at which to cook various foods. (For example, don't cook eggs on the highest heat which seems to be a theme amongst those complaining) Cast iron takes a bit of skill to master its uses, but once you do, you can cook almost anything in them (except acidic foods), especially these coated cast-iron pans. For those who are worried about the negative reviews, just watch a few youtube videos or do a little internet searching to find the ins and outs of cast iron cooking, and you won't have any problems. If the coating starts to look a little dull, you can still oil these pans just like a regular cast iron pan even though they have a coating on them already. A TINY dot of oil wiped around the pan will make it look gorgeous!

I have several items from Le Creuset. I like cooking with cast iron. I have a cast iron skillet passed down to me that is at least 80 years old. It's non-stick glaze beats anything. And now I have this new skillet from Creuset. It works beautifully. Cast iron does take extra care, but the performance is well worth it. Le Creuset is the bet of the best.

This will be passed from generation to generation.

    What I LIKE about it:

    1. This is a forever pan — the quality is amazing, it’s simply unbeatable, and there is nothing like it. I’ve had my smaller Le Creuset pan for over 10 years and it looks brand new to this day, and I don’t doubt for a second that this will too!

    2. Low maintenance — I love the black enamel cover, it’s so low maintenance and easy to clean. I love the look and feel of white enamel but I do need to baby it a lot as I try to clean out even the slightest beige like marks. With black enamel just scraping off the food with a wooden spatula, wiping off the rest and wiping dry will do the trick.

    3. Good size — this is a spacious pan. It can fit a decent amount, I’d say about 2 big stakes, omelettes for 4 or 3 grilled cheese sandwiches (a bit crowded but possible if short on time).

    4. Needs minimum oil — this is not non-stick, but the good news is it needs just a bit of oil. But even if food ends up sticking, it’s a breath to clean it. Not much scrubbing or force needed.

    5. Beautiful colour — Cerise or Cherry colour is so incredibly beautiful, especially in real life, and it’s really my favourite of them all. It looks really festive especially around Christmas and just ads a nice pop of colour and brightens my day when I’m cooking.

    6. Heat retention — heat retention is amazing, like many already mentioned. It heats up rather quickly, it’s always even and it retains heat quite nicely. I started turning off the stove 70% in and my omelettes, grilled sandwich or sides just keep cooking on retained heat and come out perfectly.

    7. Fits well in an oven — this is a 26cm frying pan, and it’s 44cm in length so it’s a good size pan and fits well in an oven.

    8. Great for oven baking — it is so amazing for oven baking, and that’s what I love this for the most! Guilty! Bread rolls come out just amazing, they are crispy on the bottom and so so soft on the inside — that’s how I like them the most! They never stick and bake quickly! So addictive!

Downside, not much to note here, but if I could ask for one thing that would be a lid. I prefer my pans with a lid on. Luckily, lids from other brands will fit well as long as they are the same size.

5.0 out of 5 stars Forever pan

Le Creuset skillet is amazing and the more you use it the better will be. I never use soap for clean it (just the first time as written on instruction) and with some warm water and a sponge the skillet is perfectly clean and remain no smells. This the way to maintain the skillet bright and nonstick. I Love it!

This pan is amazing in every respect but its non-stick qualities without the toxicity of Teflon are really worthy of note. No seasoning required, just use straight out of the box and as the patina develops on the surface, so the performance just gets better and better. I cannot imagine ever buying another frying pan, so terrific in terms of value for money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excelente sartén, no se pega nada si lo sabes usar.

Just what I need for our new induction hob. Yes, it's heavy and I rarely take it over a setting of 6. Good, even, tasty sauté and light frying pan. I haven't put it through it's paces as yet, but have a feeling it'll do well in the oven as well. Really pleased with it.
