This is an excellent historical reproduction holster. I don't even see how they can sell a quality leather holster for this price, but not complaining. I used leather dressing to soften the leather a bit and to fit the gun (S&W 10-5, 4") and it now fits like a glove. Even though I'm 6'7", 290 lbs, the shoulder strap is more than long enough. Do not hesitate, this is a great holster for the intended gun.

Verified Purchase

The holster was stiff and unformed when it arrived, as it would have been in the 1940’s. I soaked the holster in water for a few minutes . I wrapped my S&W model 10 in two layers of plastic cling wrap and inserted it into the holster. It had to be forced into position - You don’t want to push it too far or the fastening strap will be loose on the revolver. I then pressed the holster to form around the barrel, frame and cylinder.
I left the revolver in the holster for 48 hours hanging by the shoulder strap in my spare room and allowed it to dry naturally.
Once it was dry I adjusted the shoulder strap to the length I needed it so I could secure it with my belt with the lower loop and loose enough over my shoulder to bend, crouch and kneel without the revolver possibly falling out.
The next test was going to the rifle range and wearing my new holster carrying my revolver. When I first put it on it felt odd but very soon after I got used to it. I wore it around the range for several hours and not once was it uncomfortable and my revolver grip never got in the way of what I was doing.

An excellent purchase. Very much worth the money. It’s a keeper and it was a lot cheaper than the other holsters I purchased that never get used.
