Jill comes from a large family with six siblings, including an identical twin.     It was a very uplifting story with a warning about a life lived to only make money a have power, but also reminding us that there are abused children everywhere and it is EVERYONE ‘S responsibility to step in if we see abuse taking place! Like it or not, we are our brother’s keeper,if we have any moral or kind bones in our bodies. Ms. sanders did a great job of bringing all this to mind, while writing a ve enjoyable book about true love and romance. I would highly recommend this book to everyone.

    Cassey was severely abused as a young child and managed to get away right when a woman was outside trying to figure out how to rescue her. So, together they go to the home the woman runs for kids like her. Fast forward and she is an adult in their small seaside town and owns the bar/restaurant that is very popular in the small town which doesn’t currently have a big hotel. Down the coast a bit is a high end resort with an owner bound and determined to shut that whole town’s businesses down … I guess to keep all the business for himself? Anyways he sends unloved remaining son to go get her to sell to him … and they fall in love. This is the story how their love story progresses and her town and the high end resort learn to live in peace. I enjoyed the story. Lots of sex, but it was easily skimmed or skipped.

    Cassey is a hardworking business owner with a tragic origin story that leaves her relationship foundations shaky, causing every relationship she's ever had to keep her from letting them get too close.

    Cassey's life is hectic as she struggles to keep business coming to her restaurant on the once lively boardwalk especially since the large hotel at the end of the boardwalk has done everything in its power to take away shuttles that bring tourists to the boardwalk.

    Luke on the other hand comes from money and an overbearing family. His family owns the largest hotel on the boardwalk which is slowly overtaking the businesses. So when his father asks him to do anything possible to talk Cassey into selling her restaurant, he isn't expecting to fall for Cassey instantly.

    The book had an interesting premise with the tight-knit businesses on the boardwalk and a small business owner taking on the big man. I liked Cassey as the main character and was able to understand where she was coming from in her decisions as she moved forward with her business and her relationship with Luke.

    I did however wish there had been more information on Cassey's missing sister which I'm aware is probably in other books in the series.

    This book was so good that I couldn't put it down. The way it started off I wasn't sure I was going to like it, but then again; I couldn't make myself look away, either. The first 7 yrs of Cassey’s childhood story made me cry! I'll never be able to understand how a parent, or anyone for that matter, could treat a innocent child like that. It's totally inhumane and deplorable!!! I didn't much like ZLuke in the beginning of this story, either. He came off as the usual rich, spoiled man who was used to getting whatever he wanted, and to heck with the people he had to walk over to get it. But as the story went on and we find ut more about Luke and his up-bring....we find out that first impressions aren't always what they seemed to be.

    But then Cassie's special "Angel' ----as she still refers Lily as until this very day----comes to save her. At first she wasn't too sure about Lily; trust was a major factor for a girl who never knew what a real childhood should look like. Soon she found a loving family who taught her how it felt to be loved for the first time in her life. But would she ever be able to truly trust another person, again?

    Luke had never been his father’s favorite. That title had belonged to his brother, but he’s determined to make his father see that he can be a great businessman. But as hard as he tried; he dicovered that he could never live up to his brother's image .....at least not in his fathers eyes. After meeting Cassie and seeing just how much her family's hertiage means to her, he knows he can't take her business away from her.

    Between Luke's family struggles and his feelings for Cassey, he faces many tough decisions. Can he fix everything and make it all work?

    This story has many twists and turns; some of which I never saw coming. The emotions run high in this book, but it's well worth the read, believe me!!! I would highly recommend this book to everyone.

    The prologue had me nearly in tears, the rest, although not as serious, still showed the reader how many different types of child abuse there are, and how this reflects into their adult life. It was heartwarming to see the protagonists overcome their obstacles and slowly build up trust.
    I quite like reading books by this author, and I am looking forward to getting my hands on the next books in this specific series.
