So some of the reviews mention this and others don't I'm running these in a Lenovo legion 7i pro gen 8. They run at 5200mhz 42-42-42-82 with a CR of 2T GM 2 as well It's just that they get incredibly hot under load. Contacting Crucial they say they don't have their specifications published but they claim that you shouldn't be running these over 80C and during a load test such as a hand brake encode or something else they easily cross 100C and above. I don't know if there is something wrong with them(they are densely packed in) but they hit over 120C before I stopped the stability tests. Crucial won't answer if this is safe for the long term.(Highly highly doubt it is) Others say they put graphene on them but if those come off inside the case they might cause issues frankly. I'm unsure exactly how to proceed as you can't just slap a fan on or something in a laptop. I was told some users put larger graphene heatsinks on and then put thermal pads to connect the ram to the bottom of the chassis though these are double sided so that will only take care of the heat from one side. During my testing I've never gotten them to hit a steady state so I'm debating if I should return them. It seems too risky trying to "resolve" the heat issues. I'd say if your machine doesn't have a way to directly cool the sticks(most laptops frankly) I'd stay away from them. If you don't do any kind of video or memory intensive work these might work for you frankly. I will say I didn't encounter any memory errors while testing even though they got so hot but I question if they will last very long running so toasty. All tests were conducted with an ambient of 75F. On a flat surface with the ram cover on(off seems to drop a little bit) but it will slowly creep up anyways. There is no way to directly cool the ram on this legion series and as far as I can tell the stock ram never goes above 80C. I'll try to update if I discover anything but it would seem Crucial made sticks that are incredibly hot without even putting any kind of heat spreader on them and given they are supposed to be installed into laptops you'd think they'd of had some way of keeping them cool or at least publish specifications like every other manufacturer. Update: I returned the sticks. So I worked together with other Lenovo Legion 7i Pro owners to attempt to work out what might be wrong with these sticks. I removed the bottom cover of the laptop and the ram shield and then turned the laptop on it side and ran a OCCT mem test while using a heat gun to check the temperature of the sticks. It was speculated that the temperature sensors were just reading incorrectly and that the real temp was much lower. That 100% was not the case as they most definitely were hitting 121C inside my laptop. We did a lot of research on this and the ram chips are supposed to limit the amount of incoming current using the PMIC. The strange thing is that the PMIC wouldn't even declare they were overheating till about 110C which is WAY WAY past the 80C crucial states. The other thing is that even when the PMIC finally does declare a "overtemp" situation in HWINFO it doesn't not proceed to attempt to cut voltage nor bandwidth/speed. The memory chips were still reading full speeds and the other even stranger thing that makes no sense to any of us and we cannot explain this. Even when the DDR5 ram was hitting 120C on both a heat gun thermometer AND in HWINFO/OCCT there were 0 memory errors. This honestly shouldn't be possible. We cannot explain why there were no errors but it is speculated there was something wrong with the PMIC that is just allowing more and more current into the ram sticks due to it never cutting anything and the ram literally running for 13 minutes without hitting a steady state temperature instead it just kept rising. The other reason I returned them is fear of damage to local components around these sticks. Say they are actually supposed to be able to run at 120C+(insane) then I HIGHLY doubt all the local components can take this heat for long periods of time. I assume the connectors holding the sticks and the capacitors and such all around them would experience early fatigue from such heat. The stock sticks never go above 76C at literally max everything I can throw at them. These would cross 100C from just running 3d mark time spy stress test 20x which is about 30 minutes ish. That means in a normal non memory loaded gaming situation you'd still overheat these chips. I don't know if I got set of bad sticks or what but I'm kind of scared to exchange them and find out this is just an incompatibility with my laptop/13900hx. I've seen actual results of them running in AMD high end systems and not having issues so maybe something with intel ones? Anyways if you have these in your gaming machine. I HIGHLY HIGHLY suggest you run OCCT memory test and hwinfo and make sure they are not overheating even with a heatsink on one of them it did practically nothing. They just heated slightly slower but they still hit over 100C. You've been warned as you can damage components and your laptop if these are really running wild.
