Review

“This beautifully written guide to a woman’s fertility signs is packed with knowledge, wisdom and humor―a must for the bookshelf.” — Co-authors of The New Our Bodies, Ourselves

“Taking Charge of Your Fertility has become the Our Bodies, Ourselves for our time. Alternately silly, whimsical, and exhaustingly specific, the book was published fifteen years ago and is ranked higher by customers on Amazon than all other books except the third and fourth Harry Potters.” — New York magazine

“Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a fantastic book, loaded with practical and beautifully presented information that will transform and empower every woman’s relationship with her fertility. I recommend it to women of all ages.” — Christiane Northrup, M.D., Author of Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom and The Wisdom of Menopause

With It Starts With the Egg by Rebeca Fett. It is the PERFECT combination.I have wanted to get this book by Toni Weschler since I first heard of NFP in 2017. I'm so happy to finally have it! She totally sheds to like why OPK tests can be helpful in getting to know your body but not at all dependable for tracking ovulation days (whether you're preventing or trying).I was using the strips and just getting frustrated. Now have a thermometer just for me (the Premom one) and app to plug in that number in addition to LH strip. On top of that I have my own charts in the bathroom and BOY it's honestly fascinating! I'm not tracking to either prevent or try. We are tracking to see that my cycles are normal and to get to know my body better (I have inflammation issues and back stuff and the list goes on). The first couple chapters of the book were honestly very basic, but it's extremely helpful once you get into it. For both women (born with a uterus) and man (born without a uterus and other external parts). My husband has learned a lot and finds the writing captivating and its been a great conversation between us two for a few days now. I'm almost half way through! If fertility (your own health at all) health is important to you check out Rebecca Fetts book too. She delves into why certain vitamins, minerals and dietary changes impact your cycle the wa they do.)

Initially this book can seem overwhelming because it is so dense , however I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it is to read and she even includes some humor around stories on the way.

You will most likely learn more about your body than you thought you’d ever learn and feel confident in tracking your own cycles.

The app she suggest in the book has an accompanying Bluetooth thermometer that they no longer sell. Instead I suggest Tempdrop.

Last thing if you have endometriosis the information is slightly dated so I strongly would suggest Heal Endo.

I wish someone told me about this book sooner! Things that I have always been embarrassed, confused or concerned about regarding womanhood were all covered in here. I am so glad I read this now so I can understand my body better. More improtantly though I can better help my daughter navigate and know/understand her own body as she gets older.

This book is not only encouraging and a great resource for those experiencing challenges with their Fertility but it is just a wonderful resource in general that empowers woman through knowledge.

This is so much larger and so much more in depth than I thought it would be. This is exactly what I was looking for. The layout is very easy to navigate the chapters and topics/subtopics. I appreciate this so much!!

I haven’t read this yet, that will take a while but I bought it used and it came in great condition and came on time. It was recommended by a family member and I wasn’t expecting it to be this big but it seems highly informative!

This book is perfect!
I thought I knew my body and how to regulate my cycle, look for fertility signs, etc. but now I REALLY know! So much good information whether you’re trying to get pregnant, not trying to get pregnant, or just wanting to regulate your cycle, this is it!

As someone who's about to get married this year and frankly didn't receive proper sex education from my parents/school, this book taught me so much about my body. I am a follower of Jesus, so I disregard her comments regarding the commendation of masturbation. However, the rest of the book is incredibly informative and helped me understand my body so much more, which helped me get in touch with my femininity. Such an empowering book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Read for Everyone Woman
Reviewed in Canada on February 28, 2024
This book should be required reading for every single individual who has monthly cycles! I considered myself educated on the topic of reproduction and yet found myself almost angry that I had gone most of my reproductive life not knowing much of the detailed information that is covered in this book.

I purchased it at a time where I was looking to come off of hormonal birth control and still avoid pregnancy but eventually the information was key in successfully starting a family as well. This book is an exhaustive education on understanding and tracking one's cycles down to the smallest detail. It changed my entire approach to family planning and allowed me to fully understand my body. It is written in a non bias and easy to understand format with great pictures and examples. Regardless of where you are at in your family planning needs, this book is an enlightening resource that I wish I had found 20 years earlier!

I thank you for your enlightening book, what can I say more, reviews on amazon say it all.
I have not much to add other than maybe the ‘dark chapter’ on miscarriages is not fully covered and it would be nice to have more information on this ‘taboo’ subject. I was unfortunately in this situation some time ago at the age of 44 but the medical advice I received was not much of a help. not to mention the ...support...
Thank you and please keep demystifying the good as well as the ‘ugly’ information around fertility (or not).
