While this isn’t my first book by Piper Rayne, it is my first sports romance and boy was I delivered a touchdown read! Second chance, enemies to lovers, workplace romance…yes, yes and yes!Lee and Shayna are unexpectedly reunited after a horrible ending during their college year. She’s always been the one that got away and stills weighs heavy on Lee’s mind. He had his playboy ways but Lee was sweet with a heart of gold. Shayna had fire and refused to let anything stand in the way of her dream job, even residual feelings for the star quarterback.Lee is determined to win Shayna back and this time he’s playing for keeps but she’s not going to make it easy. There was pining, banter, sexual tension…Piper Rayne sure I felt everything that had built between these two over the years and in the present. I loved the anxious waiting period, the question wasn’t will they but when they. And when they did, all bets were off. You had your chance Lee Burrows was hilariously entertaining, funny, sexy and sweet!I loved the team camaraderie with Lee and the rest of the Kingsmen. It made for so many laugh out loud moments. There were so many little delectable morsels left for the stories to come and I for one cannot wait to read them all. Lee and Shayna were a great kick off to what I already know will be an amazing series!The audio is a must listen. Callie Dalton and Joe Arden were a dream, absolute aural perfection and truly brought this story to life.

Lee realizes he messed up with Shayna in college and now that they are going to be working together he wants to apologize. Shayna tries to give Lee the cold shoulder, but Lee keeps trying to make amends. When Lee helps Shayna out at a gala, Shayna decides maybe they can be friends. Loved meeting Shayna's friend, Bryce and Lee's friends on his team. This was a really good book and a great start to the series!!

You Had Your Chance Lee Burrows is the first book in Piper Rayne’s Kingsmen Football Stars series. This book has it all: a second chance/workplace romance with characters you’ll root for and a storyline that will keep you engaged throughout.

Lee is the starting quarterback for the San Francisco Kingsmen. He’s going into the last year of his contract and is determined to focus on football. Nothing will distract him from his goal of signing a new contract with the team. Those plans go up in smoke as he faces his biggest regret at the first team meeting. Shayna is one of the Kingsmen’s newest athletic trainers and the one that got away. The pair met in college and fell hard for one another. But it all fell apart when Shayna learned that Lee started their relationship to win a bet. Shayna was heartbroken and hated Lee but went on to earn her degree. She wasn’t going to let Lee keep her away from her dream job - an athletic trainer for a professional team.

Time and distance hasn’t diminished their chemistry, but Shayna’s hurt feelings and a no fraternization clause in their contracts makes it a challenge Lee is determined to conquer. He works hard to be forgiven and they resume a guarded friendship. But as we all know, with chemistry as strong as theirs, friendship quickly morphs into a relationship. Shayna insisted that they keep it on the down-low because of the two of them, she would be the one to suffer any consequences if their relationship was discovered. Her fears were realized when their relationship is exposed and she is let go. Can they survive this or is their relationship over once again? This time, Lee’s grand gesture saves them and they get their HEA.

I listened to the audiobook and have to say the characters were perfectly cast. Callie Dalton brought just the right amount of sass and vibrancy to Shayna’s character. Joe Arden’s gravelly vocals hits the right note as the professional athlete. I really liked the dual narration for this story.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this and highly recommend the book and the audiobook to fans of sports and second chance romances. I received an advance audiobook copy from the author for my honest review.

When I first started to read this series, I knew I was missing something. There was a missing link between the end of the Hockey stories and this one. So I researched and found that the story “
False Start” was the link I missed. It’s like .5 before this one “You Had Your Chance, Lee Burrows”. Now the story continues and the missing link is in place! However, Instill think you need to read each story in order…they are so intertwined! I love it! Way to Go, Piper Rayne!

Shayna knows her new job as a sports therapist with the San Francisco Kingsmen is going to come with challenges. Number one being the man who devastated her heart in college, Lee Burrows, the Kingsmen's star quarterback. But, she can pretend she doesn't know him. Pretend she doesn't despise him. Pretend he doesn't still make her heart race and her insides flutter. If she wants to keep her dream job, she will pretend and put Lee in the past where he needs to stay, for the sake of her heart.

Lee doesn't have a lot of regrets. His life is the stuff dreams are made of. He's the league's star quarterback. He's rich. He has women in droves. But, hurting Shayna back in college, even unintentionally, still gives him a pain in his soul. He's never gotten over her and now that she's back in his orbit, he's going to explain himself and get her to forgive him. If only she'd even look at him as more than just a client. If only she'd look at him the way she used to back before he broke her heart. But, he's never backed down from a challenge, and her frostiness toward him isn't going to be the thing that he can't get past. Nope. He's coming for Shayna and she'll let him back into her heart.

Second chance love and football?! You know I'm so there and dang it's good to be reading a new sports romance by this duo. This series is going to be epic if Lee and Shayna's story is any indication. Lee's an absolute sweetheart, oblivious a bit of course because he is a man after all, and Shayna is amazing - strong, principled, and with an equally big heart. Their enemies to lovers vibe is sizzling with tension, and when they finally came back together, my Kindle was practically on fire. I cannot wait for more of these San Francisco football men, I have a feeling Brady's story, You Can't Kiss the Nanny, Brady Banks is going to be just as awesome as Shayna and Lee!

Before you read this book read False Start which is the prequel to this story.

When I first started I was having issues because I was like what exactly was the bet Lee made and why is Shayna so upset. From there though I eventually came upon the prequel and I had some answers 🤣.

This story was cute and me I love a mean grovel. That is what Lee did and I enjoyed seeing him pine for Shayna though he knew they couldn't be together. They had unspeakable chemistry and as a lover of football I enjoyed that aspect of it to. When Lee got hurt it truly shows how cut throat that industry is.

However, I did feel like the story was lacking something and was kind of boring at times. Not to mention eventhough the two charaters had chemistry there wasn't a writen portion that showed a deep rooted connection.

All in all, I enjoyed this short read and story in general. I am now looking forward to Bradys book. To add on, the others that come after that because I truly believe there is a couple that is going to form between two enemies.

The way that Piper Rayne wove the storyline from beginning to end keeps you turning the pages to see what happens next.
And the secondary characters help make the book a success. There's humour, conflict, romance, steam, tension, chemistry, connection and all not only from the main characters but even via the secondary ones.
Can't wait for the other series' storylines and to see glimpses of some of the other characters from their other series which is something that I like in their writing.

This is a standalone, though, so you can jump right into Shayna and Lee’s story. Former college lovers, brought together in the workplace several years later. Can Lee get Shayna to trust him as he tries to reconnect with her and make amends for the errors in his past? Enjoyed the angst, regret, hope, optimism, heart and heat in this book. A once in a lifetime love, rekindled. Raced through this book, was totally caught up in the drama between these two.

A good little romance that began in college. Now mature and successful, both Lee and Shayna end up in the same football club. Shayna fights it but she ends up giving into her feelings for Lee and vice versa. In spite of so many hurdles to their relationship, they are given a surprise ending by the father of a fellow player.

So I enjoyed this book. There was alot of tension between the main characters to start with. We see Lee is still in love with Shayna though they have both moved on. This book brings them back into each others lives and that Shayna is still attracted to Lee but cant forgive him.

Its not the best written book I have read, some of the paragraphs dont make sense and you are expected to know what the bet is about as it is never explained. Read False Start before you get into this one. The friendship between Shayna and Bryce is an odd one, not sure how many reporters would hold onto gossip about staff and a player knowing relationships are forbidden.

There are a few funny moments like when the guys are helping Lee with his big gesture in winning Shayna back and I love his relationship with them. I'm not sure on Lee's character. He comes across big headed and thinks rules can be broken for him. Shayna on the other hand, comes across as down to earth and aware of how the world works.

I liked the concept of the story and we know there is a HEA for now. Be interested to read the rest of the series.
