Easy AMD mounting, solved cpu thermal issues

Easy AMD mounting, solved cpu thermal issues
I upgraded an old system from a 2nd gen Ryzen to a Ryzen 5 5500 cpu. This is not a top of the line cpu and I figured the stock cooler should be adequate. In a way it was, though from what I can tell all Ryzen 5000 cpus seem to run HOT. This solved it.There are tons of parts in this kit as it is compatible with a few intel sockets and both AM4/5 AMD sockets. The intel installation is well documented but I did not do. The AMD install was fairly straight froward and pictured well. Looking at the instructions once this is no harder to install than a case fan and CPU heatsink. Just need to find the space. My install is a bit unconventional but its getting the job done. Pretty certain with my cpu I got a hot one. This thing was thermal throttling at and above 90+C with the stock cooler. After hooking this up I did notice a differences as temps dropped to 75-85 tops... this still seemed wrong. The directions have you hooking it up to the CPU header and that power is delivered dependent on the CPU temp. Which means the pump would be barely running until things got hot and then playing catch up. I did not really give it a chance to catch up and just hooked the pump up to sata power with the included cable. Now its got one speed, 100%. CPU temp in game does not cross 65c and is normally hovering around 60c. I am sure I could have optimized my fan curve to get the pump running sooner but since my motherboard does not have a dedicated pump plug this is good enough. The fan is a bit noisy since its smaller but looking at my picture the lack of side panel is not helping.TLDR: Brought my CPU temps from 90+c to 60c under load in game.

It does good for keeping the Temps down I have a strix z790f mobo and 13900kf and it keeps the Temps under control the only downside is that it's all controlled automatically the aio anyways but as long as the Temps stays good it's a w to me

Not as good as hoped for. False advertising, the pump doesn't run at 3000 rpm, it tops out about 2600-ish RPM, pump and fan on top of pump seemed tied together, or sharing power, I had a Liquidmax 3, 360 argb that needed replacing due to failure, I should have purchased an Artic 360, I figured I would give Enermax another try, (they failed to warranty, saying my model didn't have the 5-year warranty, I think it was BS just to get me to buy another, I should have sent it to Gamer Nexus to do a 4 year follow up) I did pull the old liquid max 3, 360 argb apart, I had a Liquidmax 3, 360 argb, for about 3-ish years on a Ryzen 9 5950 x not OC'd, wished I would have done that before buying a new Enermax, as it was clogged with garbage corrosion, big chunks of yellow and other trash, like the TR4 units of old enermax had, this will be the last unit I ever buy from Enermax, never again, your products are now banned in my custom computer builds for me and my customers, and most likely will take off and trash after I purchase and Artic 360mm.

The ENERMAX LIQMAXFLO SR 240 I would say is in direct competition with the ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 240. I don't own an Arctic Freezer, but do have several other AIOs in various sizes and GN has does several reviews of the Freezer II, so I'm familiar. The VRM fan, while it may seem gimmicky does actually do a reasonable job of cooling down the VRM. Whether cooler VRM matters in your situation is subjective. It can help stabilize an overclock and potentially reduce overall case temps, but for most it shouldn't be of any major concern (so, yeah, somewhat gimmicky). Price-wise it is very comparable as well.

Overall construction seems good and install is easy with just a couple brackets. And I appreciate that tube clips are included as it makes keeping everything neat and organized much easier. I like the simple aesthetic of the block and the basic black fans are reasonably quiet, though I did replace them with my preexisting ARGB case fans. Cooling power is more than enough for my 5600X, so seeing what this AIO is really capable of is something I can't really do.

The elephant in the room is whether or not Enermax has resolved its pump clogging issues with gunky coolant. Enermax previously acknowledge there were issues even if it wasn't on a global scale, so here's hoping that dark spot on their reputation is in the past. Only time will tell, but so far, I'm very happy with my ENERMAX LIQMAXFLO SR 240.

My experience with this AIO was a bit unusual, I will detail more of that below.

I was replacing my Dark Rock Pro 4 since it was beginning to not really be able to keep up with the thermal demands of my current CPU after upgrading, I was averaging 80-84C under load which is not exactly ideal.
Running the same stress testing with the Liqmaxflo resulted in a high of 68C after an hour of constant stress testing, which is a fantastic improvement. Idling it sits at a comfy mid 30s.
And it is whisper quiet, I cannot hear the pump or the fan on the pump at all.

The installation process was as simple as can be. This has to be the BEST experience I have had installing an AIO. The daisy chained fans made cable management super simple and the mounting for the cold plate was so painless. The hardware is so well designed.

Now for the unique situation I had that honestly inspired me with more confidence in this product and Enermax in general. The kit I was sent had duplicate Intel mounting brackets. So naturally I called their support line and expected the usual long hold and not much to be done without a possibly hour long runaround. Since that is what I have experienced with other companies in this field with ship logos, sometimes having to wait days for a reply. I was pleasantly surprised to have my call answered within 3 rings by a person, I wish I remembered his name because he was great! And within 5 minutes I was set, and the correct bracket was on it's way. Absolutely amazing customer service from Enermax, best I have experienced in a long long time. Definitely put my mind at ease that I made the correct choice when it came to picking a new cooler.

All in all, a great experience overall. From installing, to performance to if I ever need to reach out due to any issues. I know that it will be taken care of.
Great AIO, great company. Absolutely 10/10 on all fronts.
Highly, highly recommend.
