I'm not sure why this isn't posted right at the top with these items or included in a card with the item, but these cables work well if you do the following. You can search google/youtube for details if needed, but all I needed was to be pointed in the right direction. The cables need a specific IP configuration in some cases. For windows, you can force the Autoconfig IP settings using these settings on the ethernet port. Note that some of the ethernet dongles seem to time out of the network settings, perhaps as power savings, which is a pain:
- "Static IP" (NOT DHCP)
- "Ip Address" (169.254.250.250)
- "Subnet Mask" (255.255.0.0)

For Android 12/13 turn on Ethernet tethering and you're good to go for Bimmerlink, Bimmercode, Bimmer-tool etc. Hope this helps!
