Heather Rae Ackerman is a writer and artist from Buffalo, NY. She is a graduate of the University at Buffalo, with achievements in Theatre and English.

In 2010-2011, as the artistic director and head writer for the Honesty Theater, she produced nearly 100 original short plays, which ran the gamut from sketch comedy to experimental drama. Her work has appeared on the stage (“The Cashier’s Manifesto”, Buffalo Infringement Festival (2013), “The Hook-Handed Man is not a Feminist” Green Buffalo Productions (2018), “The Shepherdess” American Repertory Theater (2019, with Tiffany Dillon) and in print (“The Laundress”, Ghost City Review, September 2019).

In 2022, along with Amanda Falker, she co-founded The Lowell Collective, an artist’s group with a focus on creating fine art, photography, and published work. She lives in a beautiful loft apartment with eight houseplants.

This is her first book of poetry.

Little apartment, Big heart

Little apartment, Big heart
This little book of poetry really captures the essence of small living. Especially when it comes to sharing a space with roommates as well. Heather captures the essence and puts it all on the kitchen table, right between the unopened junk mail, and party favors from the night before. This is a must get for your next read and goes great on the coffee table, or bookshelf, or underneath your roommates plant!

I have known this author since I think she was nine years old, ever since that I’ve known her she has written intriguing, thought, provoking, masterpieces. These poems are not for the fainted heart. They really make you think outside your own box and they are intriguing. I am really proud of this author, she has grown into a remarkable young woman, and I hope that she continues on her journey as an author. She has a lot to say, and she has a special way of saying it. I’m really proud of you! And I love the cover idea. I lived in so many different apartments and places that I can absolutely relate to the cover.
