Product Description
The Tailors Clapper is a must have for sewing and ironing. It is used to press seams without burning. I discovered the clapper while I was taking a sewing class on making jeans and wondered how I ever sewed without it. Now, I use it on everything I make. Using with steam from your iron, press the area with the clapper and hold for just a few seconds, it will leave a nice crisp seam. We offer this handmade clapper in Oak. It weights about 14 oz and measures 11 ½” inches long, 3” wide tapered down to 2 1/2 inches and is 1 1/2” thick. Both sides have routed grooves to offer easy handling and is unfinished to better absorb steam. Colors may vary from the above picture. they may be lighter or darker depending on the variations of color in the wood used. Weight may also vary based off density of wood used.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 2, 2021Is about 1/2 inch smaller overall, than described. Would only buy the large size in this item. Great for flattening quilt seams. Smooth, handcrafted oak hardwood. Easy to pick up and use. Recommend having 3 of these on-hand for working on one quilt block and one block in progress. Useful for other projects as well since, it is slim enough to fit in smaller spaces such as sleeves.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 5, 2023I have seen that quilters are using this item for flattening their seams. I decided to order one and was looking for something that was hand made - not from China. This one is very nice and smooth and I was very pleased witht the appearance and how well it worked.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 3, 2021If you have interest in this, please buy from this seller! I had all sorts of mail issues receiving this and the seller was outstanding in communication and resolving the issue.
Ok, for the product. I was curious about these and, as a small treat, decided to try it out. This is what I have found after just a short use: it works better on a standard ironing board and with steam rather than in my will ironing mat. I DO think that the seams seem flatter and I’m happy I got it. Give it a try.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 30, 2021I was very pleased when I received the large size wooden clapper for pressing seams - it was not too big to use comfortably for small hands. Approx. size: 11 3/8" long x 2 5/8" wide at bottom, tapering to 1 5/8" wide at tip x 1 3/8" tall. It arrived sanded smooth with no burrs and after a quick dusting off, I was able to use it to get the flattest seams ever. Wish I would have bought one years ago - it really does make that big a difference in the quality of your sewing.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 25, 2021I Loved everything about this product! It’s exactly what I was looking for! I ordered it on 5/21/21 and it arrived today 5/25/21– I was so impressed with the quality that I was going to order another today but I wasn’t happy to see that within the 4 day window of buying and receiving it, the price went up by $2.56. It’s ridiculous so I won’t purchase another one yet, either the price comes back down or I’ll go elsewhere for it!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 31, 2021Easy to hold. Works beautifully. I wish there was a longer one that would cover the seam on a 12” quilt block.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 8, 2022I purchased this clapper after hearing so many positive things about clappers in the quilting world. I purchased this particular one because I didn’t want to wait and visit a quilt shop. I can’t say enough about the quality of this item. Plus, yes it’s worth the hype!!! My seams have never been so flat!!!!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 9, 2021I use this for setting sewn seams. Saw it used on a You Tube video and immediately purchased. When it arrived, I was amazed at everything about it! The weight, craftsmanship, and the usefulness. Highly recommend this for quilters or anyone wanting to set their seams efficiently and quickly. Good job, Jacksons Woodworking!

5.0 out of 5 stars C’est génial
