    I own a 2018 440i convertible. I installed this about 6 months ago. It works. Looks good.
    Problem with my past chargers (and I had those that “permanently” installed in the back notch (take center console up) is, especially when top is down, it would over heat. And it barely worked charging, and the phone slid around.
    This unit has a fan (quiet & small) that prwvwnt the overheating and the additional power probably helps too.
    And charging speed? Yesterday driving to work, started with 70% power, was playing wireless carplay whole way and it was fully charge in 30 minutes. And although its a plug-in, it looks like it is part of car.
    Also, leaving it on, the BMW does still shutoff all accessory power (and it) if keys aren’t near the car so it won’t drain the battery.

    This is very cheap plastic. When fitted in a BMW 3 series there was not enough room to fit the phone (with case) onto the charger. You could just about squeeze it in but not for a full contact. The case was minimal too, so just a bad design. The lights never seem to go off either which makes me concerned about battery drain.
