Lasted 2.5 years of daily, excessive stress from homelessness. Absolutely purchasing it again.
5 Stars
Lasted 2.5 years of daily, excessive stress from homelessness. Absolutely purchasing it again.
Long story short, this thing quickly became my constant companion, and not only got me through two very specific, very straining periods and just about every conceivable use-case and stress test but in the end, the only thing to give out was the teeth on the main zipper, and the chest clip, after extraordinary over-use with both. Both were still usable (!) but as this has gone from my life-pack to my work pack, I'm simply purchasing another for sake of freshness. As for the two periods we've gone through:1. When I realized at the end of 2017 that I was on a rapid slide into poverty and only months from homelessness, I made the call that it was time to start preparing, and purchased this pack (Stock, Gray2 40L) and sure enough, it very quickly became my constant, trusted companion through a rough 18 month stretch where all of my belongings were inside, easily more than 100lb+ daily.Rain or shine, the yellow rain cover kept my clothes, hydropack and knicknacks up front, plus the papers and laptop snug in the back sleeve (though that main have been intended for hydropack/bladder, I found it kept my laptop safer and my back straighter having it all the way in back) - No water damage ever, even in rain, even when my hyropack leaked, which is why I kept it on bottom in the first place. That rain cover is attached by some elastic and was easy to zip out and deploy and pull over the stuffed backpack the moment it was needed without removing the back. After enough use, I found myself easily deploying it one-handed from muscle-memory alone without a thought.Sidenote: The cover zipper quickly became the spot to store personal ID and other sensitive stuff when sleeping or being stuck in some risky places. everyone goes for the top and side pockets, or jeans or coat, no one looks underneath. Speaking of, a mini personal air mattress fit snugly on the upper outside loops and while a heavy down sleeping bag wasn't able to fit in addition to my other belongings, I jerry rigged two cords on either side of the outside cover of my sleeping bag and looped those around the detachable side clips of the bag and never once had any issues with space. I could go on and on about how much use this bag had during this time.2. After I finally had a stable job and home again, I worked in IT and moonlighted as a housecleaner. In a way, having genuinely debilitating OCD is both what caused my homelessness and what helped me climb back out with my head held high (the adjustable and front backstraps also aided in that posture maintenance though) and having cleaned and washed the pack monthly, I was able to continue using it professionally to transport all sorts of supplies from hard drives and motherboards to a dozen liquid cleaners, two dozen towels and an only partially dismantled swiffer w/ wetpads and during that period, it went through a LOT more stress than before as regular santizing and stain removal became part of the job. When a cleaner leaked inside the pack due to poor placement or other stupidity on my part (we are WAY off the intended use for this back, I'm literally just filling it with corrosive liquids by now), I actually didn't even notice right away because the layers of padding and weatherproofing and the raincovers zipper placement on the bottom, which all basically slowed and pooled the leak so that by the time I noticed, quite a bit had been absorbed yet I still had the time to make my way to a bathroom to unload and wring out everything.Because of the proofing, drying it out if the bottom/back foam/cushioning is heavily saturated or when laundering to clean off stains or accumulated internal mess DOES require a lot of complex dismantling and inverting, then rinsing with some applied pressure against the shaping and bottom foam then an overnight soak and second rinsing, wringing and applied pressure before leaving it inside out for a full second night to air out. (if it's saturated enough to drip dry, or not turned inside out, it will not dry out on it's own overnight but thankfully it really does not tend to get excessively soaked unless you bungle things up and use it in all these monstrous ways like I did.I'm buying another now - Not for either of the two reason used before, I have an apartment and a proper caddie for my supplies - but because I've kind of started to miss the outdoors and would like to keep hiking and exploring recreationally and not simply out of necessity. And after all we've been through, I know there's at least one pack I can depend on when I step back out into that great blue yonder.

My first impression? I got exactly what I was looking for!

Not only is the blue color a beautiful shade of blue, but the 40L size is exactly what I was expecting it to be. Its a little bigger then a school backpack, but not going over the top bigger. I don't own a car, so I drive a little scooter instead. Pretty much all your storage space on a scooter, is in the backpack. I wanted to be able to have the capacity to carry a good amount of groceries. But I didn't want to weigh my scooter down too much by getting a giant, 60L, 70L, or 80L backpack. The zippers on this pack appear to be mid-range quality. Typical plastic zippers as seen on most packs, but the buckles are metal.

As you can see from the pictures, this backpack has many pockets. The smallest pocket would be great for storing your keys, cell phone, etc. The pocket on the top of the backpack, which is one of the ones I was able to easily get a picture of, would be a great size to store a camera, or you could store a pair of gloves in there, which i will be doing. There is a bottom access to the main pocket of the backpack, not sure why they did that, makes no sense to me. And this backpack also comes with a raincover that is accessed from the very bottom of the backpack.

The main pocket also has the typical access from the top, and I will be using that access point just like with any standard pack. As you can see form the pictures, its very spacious. And this backpack is actually capable of bulging out some more, if you were to put some items in it. In the main pocket, there is a sleeve on one side, that is meant for a hydration pack, something that hikers use. But it can be also used for whatever you want. On the sides of the backpack there are 2-meshed pockets, those are to store water bottles in them. One of the things that I like about this backpack, is that it has both a chest strap, and a hip strap.

If you've ever used a standard backpack for school, you will know that sometimes the straps can slip off your shoulders. With a chest strap, that prevents that from happening, and it was easy to adjust. Additionally, there is a hip strap that adds extra support from the bottom half of the pack, and its also easily adjustable. I also appreciate all the padding that this pack has on the back. The straps are nice and wide so they are comfortable as well. In conclusion, I think this is an excellent backpack for the price. I give this pack a solid 5 out of 5 stars!

I didn't expect much out of this pack. I was looking for a cheap, comfortable 40L pack to take as my only bag on a 2-week trip to the Middle East. The pack more than exceeded my expectations. It's comfortable, easy to carry, and has lots of pockets for small goods. If packed correctly it sits up without tipping over, and it fits in most overhead bins.

I work 48 hours a week as a paramedic, and I've started using this as my work bag. It's also been on several trips with me since I went to the Middle East, and it's held together well. There aren't any signs of wear or tear on the bag yet. It fits everything I need for a 2-week trip if I pack light and have access to sinks to wash socks and underoos. I plan on using it until it falls to pieces (and then I'll probably buy another one).

FIVE-YEAR UPDATE: I took a break from traveling during COVID, of course, but since my last update this backpack has been to Mexico, Canada, and is now on a two-week European trip. I don’t do much backpacking anymore but it’s still a perfect bag for me for two weeks of travel. It’s finally starting to show wear and the zippers are starting to get a little sticky, but I’m planning to do some TLC once I get back home. We’re going to order a second one for my partner.

I liked a lot about this backpack. The color is unique, the material seems to be of good quality, it's pretty lightweight, and all the little extra pockets and straps really come in handy. But I wanted to use this for a month-long trip to Europe, and I ultimately decided to use a different backpack for two reasons. First, I decided I wanted a backpack that unzipped all the way like a suitcase. Second, I had a little touble with the zipper on this backpack and I was worried that it wouldn't hold up over time, especially considering that I'm not the first reviewer to mention having zipper issues. But I'm keeping it in case I need a backpack for a shorter hiking or camping trip. I think it would be much better for that purpose, rather than for backpacking Europe.
Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2018
So I use this as my travel bag and I backpacked through Europe for 3 weeks with this.

Negatives:
1. the shoulder straps hurt after you put a couple of lbs worth of stuff in the pack so you HAVE TO use the waist belt. And even then I found myself in pretty heavy discomfort after about 15-20 minutes of walking. The straps are thin and a rough material.
2. There aren't many pockets. 4 total I believe? Not including the rainfly pocket and the water bottle mesh pocket on the side.
3. It's pretty big so it looks odd being used as a carryon without it stuffed fully (it looks like a hiking backpack). Not sure if this is relevant.

Positives:
1. It seems like pretty good quality material that is going to last me a number of years worth of travel.
2. It's very low profile - so you can add your own flair to it (I've sewn patches from every country I've visited onto it).
3. It has a pocket in the front you can hide things in under the velcro. And it has a pocket in the main pouch that lines your back where you can put your most valuable things (so they don't get pick pocketed off of you).
4. Its big! I stuffed 2 weeks of clothes (packed in air-tight ziplocks) into this and had a bit of room to spare for things like my towel, toiletries, etc.
5. It's cheap! But not cheaply made. It's definitely comparable to bigger name brands - but maybe the difference there is the comfort for long-term wear.

I've taken this backpack to 5 big trips so far and it has been great. It is very practical, light and strong. Highly recommend

Se ajusta tan bien que parece que llevas en la espalda la cuarta parte de lo que has mentido adentro; resistente, fácil de limpiar. Muy satisfecho.

Like the camo color and the bag is good!
