Touch of Faete (Bradaís Pledge Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 69 ratings

Curiosity kills little seers who get too close to bradaís, the eternal foe of the fae.

All Ryanne Kelly dreams of is a normal dating life, which is impossible when her fae gift of foresight tells her exactly how badly each romance will end. Just when Ryanne decides to give up on dating, she meets a mysterious stranger who doesn’t activate her seer gifts.

Titus Doyle has adjusted to modern living despite the fact that he is an immortal bradaí who yearns for the good ole times. He and his band of mercenaries use the internet to find new clients to quench his thirst for gold. His lust to kill fae, however, is much harder to satisfy. When Titus meets Ryanne, he recognizes her as a seer and knows what she is worth.

As their two lives collide, the primeval battle between fae and bradaís reignites. Ryanne’s human side sees more in Titus than the killing machine the fae claim him to be. Meanwhile, Titus must fight his primal urges as his feelings for Ryanne grow.

When an ancient queen of the fae gives Ryanne a special mission, Ryanne’s success holds the fate of all fae, and maybe bradaís too, in her hands. If she fails, not only will she lose her touch of fae, but the land she loves will be obliterated, and so will the fae.

TOUCH OF FAETE is a riveting, action-filled adventure, chock full of suspense, romance, and a delightful playfulness that is sure to keep you reading all night. de Wit has crafted a world that is intriguing, atmospheric, and filled with a wry sense of humor that will keep you laughing while simultaneously teetering on the edge of your seat.

Touch of Faete is dynamic romance with plenty of magic. I found this novel charming and well-written. Ligia de Wit's talent for description engaged my imagination, and her dialogue sparkles and dances.

"Normal dating" is out of the question when a fae-touched seer plagued by a pixie is kidnapped by an immortal pirate with a blood-thirsty inner demon. But who wants normal when you can have this?! If you enjoy romance with humor and magic, you're in luck—
Touch of Faete delivers all three, along with excellent writing, compelling characters, gorgeous description, and an action-adventure plot.

From the Author

Ryanne and Bricius woke me up at 6 a.m. one day a few years back. They wouldn't let me go back to sleep, despite the fact it was a Sunday, until I agreed to write them, so I did. I was so excited about her introduction that I could hardly wait to wake up my daughter and read it to her. Then I pictured Titus walking inside a coffee shop, and from there I didn't stop until I finished it all. It was the characters who demanded me to write the story, and I didn't have a say in it. They can be quite demanding!

Touch of Faete is a fantasy romance that takes a little time to get invested in, but once it hit its stride, it had me hooked.

Ryanne is young and impressionable and naive. I appreciate the character work in making her imperfect and full of personality. There were times that she did things that I thought were stupid, but they fit in with her character and helped make the story interesting. Her dilemma of being a human halfway between the normal world and the fae world was intriguing, compounded by her mission and growing relationship with Titus.

Titus is the perfect type of immortal bad boy with a very deeply hidden heart of gold beneath a sexy visage that I love. The inner struggles of inherent evil against a good will is a story I will likely never tire of. His character is well-established from the beginning and works his way through various stages throughout the book. With how the book left off, he is set to develop even more and I want to know how he grows as a person.

This was a delightful read that I was able to finish in a couple days and I found myself wishing I had the next book now. If you like some spicy fantasy romance, I would recommend this one!

I don't typically read romance-driven books. I enjoy romantic subplots, spicy or otherwise, when they are done well and contribute to the overall story. And Touch of Faete fits that bill admirably, all the more so because this is the author's debut novel.

Ryanne is a young woman who struggles at times to fit in with normal society. No wonder, for she has been marked by the inscrutable Fae for some unknown purpose. I enjoyed the Fae-human dynamic, and I especially loved Bricius, Ryanne's pixie guardian/companion, who just might have stolen the show!

At first, Titus's character appears to be a modern take on pirates of yore, but I soon learned there's something far more sinister going on. What exactly is a bradai? Finding an answer to this question drives Ryanne through this first book, and I won't risk any spoilers!

I particularly enjoyed the alternating POV between these two characters, sometimes during the same scene. Ryanne is certainly more relatable at first, but Titus evolves in interesting ways as their paths intertwine. The pantheon of other worlds is imaginative, and I expect we'll see far more of them as the series continue.

Ultimately, this book was just great fun to read. And isn't that the whole point? Highly recommend.

I purchased from Amazon as an e-book.

A Touch of Faete is a debut novel and the first of a planned series featuring Ryanne and Titus. Ryanne is a young human woman who works in a nursing home, but she is also a "seer" who has special entry to the world of faerie. Titus, on the other hand, is an immortal creature fashioned by an enemy of the fae with one mission: kill the fae.

Ryanne must decide whether Titus can be redeemed and if she can help him find his own touch of faete inside his (literally) heartless chest.

The characters are engaging, and the action moves quickly. Romance readers won't be disappointed by the "will they, won't they?" and fantasy readers will have lots to enjoy in the world-building.

This is the first novel I picked up by ligia and I was instantly in love with the book. From start to finish this book was beautifully written and I had a hard time putting it down until it was finished. I fell in love with all the characters and the development of the story is just amazing. Ligia did a fantastic job with this book. It's descriptive, well-written, and had a nice storyline to keep you guessing what happens next. Titus and Ryanne develop beautifully through this story. I highly highly recommend this book. I'm not a huge expert on the fairytale/folklore genre, but this book was an excellent read in this category. Worth the read! I can't wait for more adventures from Ligia!

This was a fun book to read, and the pacing felt good. I did enjoy the story, and I'll be looking forward to the second book.
This is a contemporary fantasy with fae, a seer, and immortal pirate.
I liked Ryanne's character. She just wants to find love, but being touched by fae, how will anyone understand her life and pixie guardian. Then enters Titus, he is an immortal old-fashioned pirate with a darkness in him that feeds his mind. She is sunshine, and he is a grump. Titus is the first person she can talk to about her life. But can he be trusted? And does he deserve redemption. But after the epilogue, I think I understand why him. It was a good little cliffhanger to lead to a second book. I am definitely intrigued and wanting more.

This book seems geared more towards YA. Slow burn and plot focused. Terminology was hard to grasp with no direction (just thrown in and it doesn't exist). I enjoyed the book but I did drag my feet reading. I prefer spicier reads. Action packed so it still kept my interest.

I enjoyed this book. The characters were fun, the world was interesting, and it kept me entertained. I love that the heroine dealt with difficult challenges and faced her fears head-on while still be a realistic person. I love that she mixed pirates and the Fae together. I hope to read more about this world!

This was an effortless read from start to finish. The story is driven by the two point of view characters who act as our window into this enchanting world that mirrors our own.
The characters are endearing and flawed in the most marvellous way that keeps you turning the page for more.

Faeries, pirates and flirting. What more do you need from a book.

Amé las descripicones de cada lugar, era como cerrar los ojos y transportarme a cada espacio descrito por la autora-... la historia me remontó a mis años de adolescente, me sentí como, a mis 16 años enamorada del pirata y deseando ser la protagonista.

I very much enjoyed this novel! Ryanne is a human with a touch of Fae. She’s given a mission by the Queen of the Fae to help decipher the secrets of their enemy, sending her into enemy territory with one evil but dead-sexy pirate named Titus. He’s unpredictable, to say the least. As Ryanne works with her pixie guardian, Bricius, to learn how to control her Fae powers, she is also subject to Titus’s controlling powers of brutality, gold lust and physical desire. Can these two find a common ground? And how do their missions fit in with the bigger picture? I desperately hope there is a sequel!
