Purchase options and add-ons
My Brother Doesn't Speak, But His Heart Does! is a touching story that explores the unique bond between two siblings, Maho and Momo, who face the challenges of communicating without words. Momo, at four years old, has a special condition that prevents him from speaking, which creates difficulties for his family. Yet, despite his inability to talk, Momo has found beautiful ways to express himself—through gestures, sign language, smiles, and loving hugs that speak louder than words.
The story follows Maho, his older brother, as he learns important lessons about patience, empathy, and the power of love. Maho doesn’t always understand what Momo wants or needs, but through their shared experiences, he discovers that sometimes, the heart can communicate far better than words ever could. Together, they show that the love between siblings is strong enough to overcome any obstacle.
This book is not only a celebration of the family’s journey of growth but also a tribute to inclusion, diversity, and the perseverance needed to face life's challenges. It invites readers of all ages to embrace the beauty of nonverbal communication, including American Sign Language (ASL), and to understand that even though words may be missing, connections can still flourish through the love we share.
In addition to the heartwarming narrative, My Brother Doesn't Speak, But His Heart Does! offers valuable activities and resources for parents, family members, and friends, providing practical tools to improve communication and strengthen family bonds. This is more than just a story; it's an inspirational guide for families who are navigating the complexities of raising a child with special needs. Through its pages, readers will find hope, encouragement, and the reminder that love always finds a way to speak.

About the author

I am Gabby Cornelio, an author and full-time mother. Over the years, I have dedicated myself to sharing my passion for nutrition and wellness, while also offering a glimpse into my family life through social media. However, when my son Moroni was born with medical complications and underwent multiple surgeries, I left everything behind to focus completely on his care for three years. During that time, I became his advocate and an ambassador for inclusion, fighting for his rights and seeking the necessary resources for his health and well-being.
In the most difficult moments, when I felt sadness over his health, surgeries, and recovery, I found healing through art and watercolor painting. Art became a way to heal my soul and distract myself, helping me overcome many challenges, which is why I decided to illustrate my own stories.
Currently, I am pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Health. Being surrounded by doctors, specialists, therapists, and countless medical situations and diagnoses with my kids, I developed a deep desire to learn more about health—a field that I live with daily. I want to gain a stronger understanding of these topics to apply them in my life and help others.
Today, I share our stories with the hope of inspiring others, promoting empathy, family love, and a positive perspective on disability. Through my books, I aim to support other families facing similar challenges and show them that, although the obstacles may be great, there are always ways to grow and love more deeply.

- Reviewed in the United States on October 23, 2024I was so thrilled when I heard that my friend Gabby was working on a special project involving the story of her son Moroni. Moroni is the sweetest boy, always smiling and full of laughter. Seeing him at church always warms our hearts. My girls love playing with him. So naturally when Gabby’s book came out, we had to snag a copy. Filled with beautiful words and wonderful illustrations Gabby gives us a little bit of insight on her family’s daily adventures and challenges. This book is a wonderful story on special needs inclusion, compassion, and empathy that I feel every family should have and read. Available NOW on Amazon in both English and Spanish.
