Use Paint Protection

Step 2 Loosen

Install Door Lock

Tighten Door Lock

Install Paint Protector

On the upper door hinge, hang/place paint protector centered just below the hinge nut. For some models use painters tape to hold in place.

Remove Door Hinge Nut

Using the appropriate driver, socket, or bit, remove the hinge nut.

Install Door Lock

Insert key tool into hinge lock and engage lock nut pattern. Thread the lock into hinge by hand.

Tighten Door Lock

Using a ¼” ratchet and key tool, tighten the lock to approximately 80-90in.lbs. Do not over-tighten. Remove key tool and paint protector. Repeat process on other doors (one lock per door).

    Excellent and necessary item for your Jeep TJ. Nice black anodized exterior. There is a rubber gasket inside the exterior part which rotates freely and the part that utilizes the key and threads on to the hinge pin which creates just enough friction so that you can hand tighten them quite a bit of the way before needing the key. The key is a 1/4" socket wrench base so using a 1/4" socket driver and a short extension (and of course the provided McGard magnetic paint protector) a few quick twists and your doors are secure. Nice design, very happy with the product. Includes registration card with a serial number to send in in case you lose the key in the future.
