From the manufacturer

About us

Yamaha's history began when its founder, Torakusu Yamaha, repaired a broken reed organ in 1887. Shortly thereafter, he successfully completed the first reed organ.

More than 130 years after our founding in 1887, we defined the Yamaha Philosophy as the philosophical framework that underpins business management at the Yamaha Group. Furthermore, in 2019, we established our new brand promise “Make Waves” to capture that special moment when our customers’ hearts tremble.

I have never experienced a slicker slide, and I've tried more slide products than I can list. Downside, I think it best to thoroughly clean your slide inside and out, which seems more tedious than difficult. Flexible trombone slide snake and a 3/6 dowel with a slot to hold 1" and 1.5" strips of T-shirt material were used to for cleaning. Coated cleaned slide modestly with Yamaha Trombone Slide Lubricant and lightly sprayed with distilled water, and it seemed like zero friction. Never have felt a slide move so freely. Never intend to even consider another product so long as Yamaha Trombone Slide Lubricant is available.

12/19/2023 several years later. Still the best slide lube. They upgraded the bottle so it has a better applicator tip. No drip, no mess. I'm on my third bottle, I gave one half bottle to a student player. Look on YouTube for Bill Watrous slide cleaning video. Following his method and using the Yamaha slide lube, even a rough slide will improve. I've used this method on a few school horns and have helped the school avoid taking a couple horns to the repair shop. Now back to my original review.
This is NOT an oil or petroleum product! I recently purchased a used King 3B. The slide tolerances are much closer than my 80 year old E.K. Blessing. I had been using a slide cream but this wasn't working on the King. After recommendations from other trombone players and reading reviews on Amazon and other sites I had to decide between Yamaha and Slide o mix. I didn't want to mess with mixing part A with part B and try to figure out the right ratio so Yamaha slide lube won. I cleaned my slide using the Bill Watrous method he outlines on his YouTube video and applied the Yamaha slide lube. What a difference. Two nights earlier (before I got the Yamaha lube) I was at an open jam and was constantly spraying water on my slide. After cleaning my slide and using the Yamaha lube I couldn't believe the difference! A two hour practice session and I only had to spray a tiny bit of water once at the beginnig of my practice and once after about an hour.
Here's the important to remember. Clean your slide thoroughly and get all the old shmoo out. Then use just a little bit.
As I said above, this in NOT a petroleum product. It is more like a liquid slide cream type of lubricant. I think something was lost in translation. I'll buy it again.

YamaSnot is the best slide lubricant I've used. I found it better than Slide-o-Mix, Reca, Trombotine, Superslick, or even Ultra-Pure (which does act as a nice quick-use supplement to the YamaSnot).
Glad Yamaha finally improved the applicator tip; the old design would eventually break down or get gummy and sealed up.

In my humble opinion Yamaha's YAC1021P Trombone slide oil is the best lubricant available.
I've been playing trombone for 51 years now (where does the time go?) and this is the best I've used to date.
Now understand your slide has to be in excellent condition to have the ultimate satisfaction of playing without fighting with your slide. Enjoy!
