Mark and Patti Virkler have been married and active in ministry since 1972. Both received their Bachelor degrees from Roberts Wesleyan College and have also earned Master and Doctoral degrees. Together they have co-authored over 60 revelation based books in the areas of hearing God's voice and Spirit-anointed living. They are the founders and directors of Communion With God Ministries (www.cwgministries.org) and Christian Leadership University, an internet school (www.cluonline.com). They have recently created a fully electronic "School of the Spirit" with 23 downloadable training modules (http://www.cluschoolofthespirit.com/). Mark travels extensively conducting workshops on how to hear God's voice and how to experience divine healing. They have helped establish over 150 church-centered Bible schools. Years ago I began writing letters to God and receiving answers from God through journaling. This process helped me learn to hear and recognize the voice of God without the aid of writing. But eventually, I encountered Christians who insisted that God doesn’t speak today and that if I was hearing God’s voice, I needed to see a psychiatrist. Well, when enough people made comments like that, I began to fear I had fallen into heresy or something so I backed away from the practice. That sent me on the slippery slope of backsliding and the voice of God became a distant memory. I no longer had access to the God who loved me, encouraged me, and guided me through the difficulties of life.

A few weeks ago, someone encouraged me to take this Bible course on 4 Keys to Hearing God’s Voice. I was reluctant at first because so many people had shamed me into forsaking the practice, but once I delved into the pages of the text, I found myself at home once again. As I began to converse with God through two-way journaling, I felt my spirit revive.

Mark Virkler’s teaching provides a firm biblical foundation for the practice of hearing God’s voice. Through this affirmation, I was able to wash away the shame I felt from those who scolded me about hearing from God. The book also gives clear explanations of how hearing from God is not a New Age phenomenon, but is rooted in Scripture and all through history until rationalism came to reign supreme over supernatural interventions. For those who are new to the practice, Mark Virkler offers four simple explanations of how to hear God’s voice. The book also contains prompts to help you get started in your two-way conversations with God.

Excellent Book. I used to Journal years ago, but I thought that it was way to simple, this couldn't be God. So I stopped journaling. And also God gave me visions and dreams, I didn't know what to do with them, I just blew them off. After reading this book and realizing God has been trying to speak to me for years and years, I was shocked. I did a lot of crying and asking for forgiveness; I simply just didn't know that these things were from God - trying to tell me something. Sometimes God speaks to you directly - point blank. Other times through these symbols and imagery. Wow. One of the best parts is that God will interpret them as well - if you ask Him. Everything in the kingdom of Grace is by permission. God treats us with such tenderness. Everyone has heard from God and had some day visions or night dreams, as you read this book, the Holy Spirit will remind you of them and as you go thru your day you will be able to recognize them. Remember to respond to them, don't just blow them off. Ask God what He wants you to do with it. He is trying to get your attention. Respond !! The book is a total eye opening, humbling experience, you will have many ....Wow moments.

I am really enjoying this book. It is given me some practical insight. I haven't finished it yet, but with the years of training I have, I have never really got to the point of hearing God's voice, and I feel with what I have read so far, that this is balanced and practical. I feel the author is also concerned about checking with others, and not just saying you heard from God and running off to do what ever, but to ask for Guidance from 2 or 3 others, and waiting for God to confirm it. I think it is a very practical book with practical safe guards, so far, I am in the section of writing in journal style. Hoping to learn more as I go along.

This book has so much revelation that I dog-earred several pages and will need to read it through again. I was so curious and excited about what I was reading, that I didn't do the wonderful application exercises at the end of each chapter - yet. Will start immediately as I read it again.

I have become so burdened by the fact that there is such a hunger for a deeper walk with God and the church is failing miserably in meeting that need. People are turning to New Age (counterfeit) teachings to fill that hole. The church and Western culture has thrown the baby out with the bath water, spurning dreams, visions, miracles, dialoging with God, meditation...anything that may have the 'appearance' of Eastern mysticism. Satan always counterfeits the things that are of value.

I'm excited to incorporate these practices into my walk with the Lord! I am impressed with the approach that the authors take with any areas that the Bible may not specifically address. The ideas are Biblical in principle, and they note this is what they have found to be true but to test it for ourselves to see what God tells us.

This is an excellent book. I have recommended it to several friends including one who has worked in prison ministry for many years. She felt it was an excellent resource. It is not a deep book, for example like Watchmanee. I wouldn't even say it is medium deep. This is a simple to read and understand, practical book for people of all ages no matter how long one has been walking with God. This book was recommended to me by a dear friend who has been walking with the Lord for over thirty years. Her testimony is that it has increased her closeness to God. Highly recommend.
