- Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2020I bought Falling Forward for my 10 year old, level 7 gymnast, for Christmas and we read it together. What I love the most is how open Jonathan is about his struggles. My son had a very successful season last year and I think he puts pressure on himself to do just as well this season. I hope this book showed him that it’s okay to fail sometimes if you have perseverance and keep going. I loved the other stuff about his life, like meeting his wife, that he talked about his faith, and his life after gymnastics. I bought Jonathan’s first book, If I had Known, last year and I was worried this would be too similar but it wasn’t. The only material I remember being repeated was a little about the high bar routine at the Olympics, but that part was a great read and worth reading again. My son enjoyed it and looked forward to me reading it every night. Both books are great and I recommend them both (especially to a young gymnast) but If I had Known seem a little more directed toward kids and Falling Forward directed to all ages.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 8, 2019In his 2nd book, Jonathan Horton has done it again. He has made something so extraordinary (his Olympic journey) completely relatable. Even if you have never had a dream or vision to be an Olympic athlete, you will get so much from Jonathan's story. It's a fast-paced, enjoyable read for anyone who wants to be inspired!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2021My favorite of Jon's two books. I was barely able to put it down. Jon has such a compelling, intriguing story. I can't help but have a lot of love for him. Thank you, Jon for sharing with us.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2020Jonathan Horton is my hero! If you are a kid who loves gymnastics and Ninja Warrior like I do, you should read this book! Even if you’re an athlete in another sport you should read this! Jonathan explains why it’s ok to fail, as long as you get back up. And that’s important for everyone to know!
- Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2020In 200 pages, Jonathan Horton put into words the life lessons I have been trying to teach my kids for a decade. I bought the book for my 9 year old gymnast and soon the entire family was reading. His humility and life lessons are relatable for all aspiring athletes.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 29, 2020Bought this from the website.
I blazed through this book in one sitting and am eager to pick it up again.
The best thing about Jonathan is his honesty about the in-between moments. Some athletes would hype up the medal-winning performance and lead you to believe it was all their doing, not Jonathan.
He walks the reader through the coaches he's had, the struggles he's faced, the failure he endured which drove him to become the Olympic athlete and the man he is today.
Pick up a copy, it'll be a great reminder of the always enduring human condition.

- Reviewed in the United States on January 21, 2020This is an excellent read. My competitive gymnast son, aged 12, received it for his birthday; and I decided to borrowed it. Kids like my son can take a lot from Jonathan Horton’s story about overcoming obstacles, and dealing with valleys before the peaks in your journey. Good, realistic advice is given for whatever life path you are following.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 11, 2020The book reads fast because it is well written. It is insightful and you feel like you are on the journey with Jonathan Horton. It not only encourages those in the sport of gymnastics, but is applies to anyone who encounters struggles in life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gymnastics
I am a gymnastics nerd I will admit more into the women's gymnastics. I was also a gymnast just not high level. I had stopped watching when Jonathon Horton began to come into the eyes of the gymnastics world. In fact I really got to see him more when they did the gymnastics challenges and he always had such a great time.
This book talked about how he wasn't a prodigy and to me that is more impressive as he didn't have the storied career of someone like a Simone Biles. It shows that an underdog can actually succeed.
I went back after seeing his challenges and his skills and watched his collegiate career and was enthralled. This book felt like learning a new side to this amazing athlete.
I think all gymnasts and elite sports should read this book as it shows some of the best qualities that you need to succeed.
