- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2025First off, as the author states in the blurb, this is Book 4 of an ongoing series and it is HIGHLY recommended you finish books 1 through 3 before starting this. The rest of this review will contain mild spoilers for events that take place in Books 1-3, so stop reading now and go get Book 1 if you haven't already. :)
As with most romance book series, there is always a balance between focusing on character/relationship development and focusing on the ongoing plot events that drive the narrative forward. This book weighs the later a little more heavily, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. Given the revelations of Book 3, it made sense to dwell a little more on the ramifications of what Evan has learned about himself, his parents, and his future relationships, as well as how the men in his life react to these revelations when he tells them. This is also helped by the who the new love interest is in this book. Given the not-too-subtle hints at the end of Book 3, it is no surprise that this book reveals that Callum is the next male that joins Evan's family. Since Callum has literally been around since the beginning of Book 1, he didn't really need much character development (that was pretty well done through the previous three books).
That's not to say there isn't quite a bit of focus on Evan and Callum's relationship and how that finally solidifies. There's a couple of trite romance tropes that rear their head (Cannot Spit It Out and Big Misunderstanding among them) but luckily none of them get drawn out overlong and everything is resolved fairly quickly and satisfyingly. It was also a true treat to finally meet Callum's family, as this is the first time Evan has been in a relationship with someone who still has living relatives.
But again, the looming war with Haran, the internal strife within Bremloc, and various ongoing plotlines are explored with the feeling that things are becoming more serious. While the author has not stated how many books will be in the series (I'd bet serious money on there being at least two more), this book feels like, not exactly the beginning of the end, but definitely starting to set up for the beginning of the end, or at least the end of the Haran/Bremloc arc.
But despite the slightly more serious tone, for those readers who came to this series for a light and fluffy fantasy romance (with a very healthy dose of multiple partner steam) worry not. Book 4 delivers in every way you could wish while leaving you stewing in anticipation for Book 5.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 21, 2025Things are starting to come together in this story. I love it. We finally have some answers. I am so curious as to who the last 2 harem members are. I think I know one of them but I have no idea about the 7th. I'm so curious. I love Evan. He is so adorable and sweet. And I hate to say this but I wish the King of Haran and Prince Cedric would just kill each other and get out of the future stories. I hope there are many more books in this series! It has become my favorite. I also hope they come out faster, I need the next story now. Amazing series and this one was so great!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2025I really did enjoy reading fourth volume of the series. Because you get to learn more about Evan and his men. I like the fact that you get to see glimpse of his future men. I also like the fact that it’s a mystery going on and you wanna figure out how they’re gonna solve it. Because there’s so many possible endings to Evan and his men’s story. And you just want them to have the happiest one. And I like the fact that they all come together as a group and they accept each other. And that they’re very protective of Evan and want him to have so much happiness in his life. I cannot wait to read the next volume. I want to see what’s gonna happen with this group. And see what’s gonna happen with the kingdom as well.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 20, 2025I loved this installment as much as the ones before it. Evan and Cal were perfect together in every way, but that's to be expected of nother member of the harem lol. Rowans development was peak entertainment asa well as his connection to Lake, loved every minute of it. Oreo was a pleasant and welcome surprise looking forward to more of him in next book. All the best isekai have fenrir companions imo. Next mate is def gonna be Ban and I can't wait.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2025Absolutely one of the best isekai why choose series I've found outside of anime! Love love love! Need the next books as I am holding out hope for who the 7th mate will be and can't wait for sweet Ban to join the fray!
- Reviewed in the United States on March 19, 2025This is my a absolute favorite book series. The writing is phenomenal. The storyline is great. The plots the twist. The turns are amazing. I’m so sad that this is only 324 pages. I can’t wait for the next book!!!
