Temptation at Randy's Kindle Edition
New beginnings didn’t usually come with a side of temptation.
Arlene
The last thing I would’ve expected when I dared to attend a local munch at my favorite diner was to run into one of my favorite YouTubers. Claude wasn’t part of the munch, as far as I could tell, and they hadn’t posted anything in forever, but they still approached me. Me.
It was a miracle I didn’t lose it right then and there.
Claude
Despite what my friends from LA said, I didn’t regret moving to Boston. It had started as an attempt to run away from a PR crisis I hadn’t known how to handle, but I liked it here. I’d found a safe haven at Randy’s, and people to surround myself with.
People to surround myself with shouldn’t have included a financial advisor with a sweet tooth and gorgeous eyes, but… Here we were.
Temptation at Randy’s is a low angst T4T F/X romance that reads as a standalone.

This is the third book released in the Diner Days series and, while it had a ton of potential, this story fell a little short for me. I struggled with clearly understanding how Claude and Arlene identified and actually had to re-read the first few pages to grasp it.
Much is made about Claude being a former YouTuber/Influencer and there is a lot of mention of a scandal surrounding a video he posted. But...we never really find out what the video was about or why the fallout was such a big deal. From what's inferred, I gather he identified as asexual and had spent a long time saying how gross he found sex, but then made a video coming clean that he didn't actually feel that way? Maybe?
Overall, this is a cute book. Claude and Arlene are delightfully awkward with each other, and that doesn't really fade as their relationship develops. They are both exploring kink, with Claude having only slightly more experience than Arlene, and it's interesting to see how their individual anxieties settle when they are in a scene.
I would love for the author to expand on this story a bit more, give us some more backstory and more current insight into how their relationship moves along. I would have loved to see more interaction between Claude and Dylan, as well as any interaction between Arlene and her father (he is mentioned several times but we never meet him).
Overall, I enjoyed the book, even if I didn't feel quite satisfied.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 12, 2024Beautiful and bold akward perfection. These two have their issues, and with each other, they learn to embrace all sides of their true selves. Claude was famous on YouTube until they were a little too blunt about facing things they never wanted to face when they made the change to move to Boston. Arlene is a beautiful sub who bakes to calm her anxiety that goes to a Randys munch to dip her toes into kink where she meets Claude. The two have an immediate akward chemistry that just works for them. When they are behind closed doors that chemistry translates to pure magic. And once they leave back to awkward fumbling communication, that again just works. It's so hard to explain this dichotomy without you having had the pleasure of reading it yourself. All I can say is give this book a real try and see these beautiful dynamics come to life.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 5, 2024I really enjoyed reading Alrene and Claude's story. They had a total meet cute and I adore that for them. These are complete chaos with their inner thoughts and I was totally here for it! This was not a typical read for me, but I'm so happy I read it and I'm so happy to see this series come alive book by book!

This was a super sweet romance with two interesting and lovely main characters. I’ve enjoyed all the books I’ve read in the series, and especially love how each author gets to add a little bit to the Randy’s world building. The atmosphere at Randy’s is wonderfully supportive and embracing, which is a highlight for sure. I appreciated how kind and careful Arlene and Claude are in starting a relationship. But, for me, it was a little bit challenging connecting with them as a couple due to all the blushing, stammering, and shyness in their interactions. It’s cute, but made it harder for me to see a genuine bond. I did like the author’s take on their D/s dynamic, it was pretty original. Sweet couple, great series, looking forward to more at Randy’s.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2024This is a story of two very different anxious people finding their perfect fit with each other. Their burgeoning relationship IS the story, so don’t go in looking for a lot of drama or outside pressures. But I really enjoyed how Arlene and Claude worked to understand one other, build trust, work with each other’s kinks, and fit each other perfectly.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 29, 2024This story was an interesting look at the journeys taken by Claude, a disgraced You Tuber, and Claude. Both of them are finding their way through their insecurities and reshaping the traditions of kink to make a way to solidify their relationship. And I love a story that sends me running to research new things. I was enjoying the love story so much I was sad to see it end.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 19, 2024I am loving the Diner Days series, and every couple who spend time at Randy's Diner are people I enjoy getting to know. Arlene and Claude seem so different from each other early on, I wondered how they would end up working together. After a lot of introspection and awkwardness on both their parts, they grew more confident and stronger, both individually and together.
It took me a bit to feel a connection to these two, especially the enigmatic Claude, but I was soon cheering them on. When I go back and re-read this series, I think I'll enjoy this book even more, since my original uncertainty about the couple will be gone. I liked them and their romance, which was a really nice addition to the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on October 6, 2024Claude & Arlene's story is a cute addition to the Diner Days Series. Arlene has crushed on Claude since his YouTube Days & since finding Randy's after moving to Boston, Claude has noticed Arlene, unbeknownst to her. When it comes to relationships, they're both awkward & shy but find comfort & acceptance with each other. I would love to read more about them & how their relationship is going, but the biggest question is how Claude is doing with his baking training 🤣

3.0 out of 5 stars Sweet
1st person, past tense, dual POV
Arlene, financial advisor and baker extraordinare
Claude, former Youtuber/PR intern
This was... fine. I had a really hard time connecting to the characters, and getting into the story. It felt like there was a lot of subtext and I was constantly having to read between the lines to interpret the characters thoughts and actions, only I didn't have enough context to do so because they weren't particularly well developed. I mightn't have realized that if there had been a lot more plot but that was pretty pithy as well. A lot of dangling carrots to be honest and I kept waiting for the story to actually start right until the very end. "The Video (TM)" is never really explained, Claude's former content and Arlene's connection to it never really explored, friendships and personal history never really laid out, hopes/dreams/aspirations never really disclosed. I liked getting a peek at the other Diner Days characters, but was left feeling a little sad for poor Ray who was so happy to connect with Claude in [book:Cramming at Randy's|209273762] and they were less than thrilled with the prospect of speaking to him throughout this book.
I enjoyed seeing Arlene and Claude smitten with each other and slowly open up and become closer and thought their light kinky exploration was particularly well done. I appreciated that they didn't go in hard and they were caring, communicative and comfortable together. I loved that their gender/sexual identities weren't the focus of the plot here. The sexy fun times were smoldering, but the story itself needed more development for a book this length (or it needed to go full on erotic smut), it may actually have worked better as a novella.
I was given an ARC and voluntarily wrote an honest review.

4.0 out of 5 stars sweet characters
This is the third book in the series around an all inclusive diner called Randy’s. It is a sweet low angst read with generally anxious MCs. Mostly describes their feelings around their identities and thoughts / feeling in regard to relationships. Low level kink and sweet characters. Another good addition to the series highlighting the caring emotions and relationships people can develop.
I read an arc of g to the book.
