About the author
Carmen Glover is a journalist, communications consultant, and writing lecturer. She's a proud graduate of The Manning's School and Unity Primary School in Westmoreland, Jamaica; the University of Technology (UTech), in Kingston, Jamaica; and the City University of New York (CUNY). Her award-winning work has appeared in publications including the New York Daily News, New York Amsterdam News, Jamaica Gleaner, Black Enterprise, Black Elegance, and NAACP’s Crisis magazines and the annual journal produced by the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ).
Carmen managed the media office of the Consulate General of Jamaica in New York from 1999-2001. In her role as Press Attache, she arranged media interviews for then-Prime Minister Hon. P.J Patterson, to promote the Highway 2000 initiative. She ensured that the Consul General, Ambassador to the United Nations Security Council and visiting ministers of government received steady media coverage. She also launched the Consular Capstone, the Consulate's first newsletter, to update the Jamaican community about pertinent activities and shine a spotlight on accomplished Jamaicans living in the Diaspora.
Carmen is committed to mentoring students, linking families to resources, and closing opportunity and achievement gaps. She is a staunch diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), and racial justice advocate. Carmen lives in New York City and is the mother of an adult daughter.

The book is a fitting read for any Caribbean woman who seeks real life experiences and sound advice to chart a path of wholistic success. In the book, Carmen tells of her traumatic events and how therapy has helped her overcome. She writes with authority as a single mother, a married woman and a divorcee and gives a comprehensive roadmap on how she thrives through the challenges of every stage of her life to become a resilient, confident, woman of prayer and faith.
“Celebrating successes boosts our self esteem and incentivizes us to achieve more” One of my takeaways from this book is that she encouraged the readers to “celebrate successes.” So often we are fixated on challenges and we fail to pause to celebrate how far we have come.
Resilient and Renewed has documented some “life jewels” that I have begun using in my personal and professional life. One of the most relatable “self-help” books you’ll read!
Carmen Glover, shares some of her challenging life experiences from her native land and the Unites States of America with a passion and purpose to help others navigate the various trials of life. Glover defies all odds. Skillfully arranged and brilliantly explained methods to emerge from adversity and to achieve goals. Absolutely wonderful.
