These 150w bulbs are great for baby chicks! I use a Zoo Med heat lamp dome and installed both of these ceramic bulbs. Once on, you can feel the reflective heat within seconds. There is no light emitted, so you’ll have to determine if it’s working or on by feel. 150w is perfect for baby chicks - I keep mine in a brooder the garage and run a bulb for 12 hours (on a wifi timer) before turning on the other bulb. With both bulbs it’s borderline too hot for the baby chicks, but one bulb alternating is perfect for them. I’ve read these bulbs can run continuously for ever, but I like to alternate the bulbs just to give them a break after 12 hours of use.

Since incandescent bulbs are outlawed here, I needed to find another suitable option for chick brooder and our chicken coop in MN. I ordered these 150watt ceramic heater bulbs to try and am pleasantly surprised. It is currently -6/feels like -19 degrees and the coop is maintaining at 20 degrees. Although they do not produce light, they are maintaining the heat we usually have in the coop with either heat lamps or incandescent bulbs (outside temperature depending). I am currently using them in a standard heat lamp with metal shroud.

One bulb worked fine, not as long as other brands I have used, but it worked. When I went to take the other out of the box and the bubble wrap, it was broken. Can not use it. By now its been a month or 2 since I purchased so I didnt feel like reaching out to have a new one shipped. Needed the replacement ASAP so just went to my local pet store and spent the money to have a long lasting one that isnt broken.
