I always ignored this book on Amazon because I am not a one direction fan and I don't enjoy fan fiction (yes these types of teenage girls exist). Then one of my friends who has good taste in books recommended the after series to me regardless of my view on one direction. I do enjoy new adult college romance so I decided to go ahead and read the first book to see if I liked it or not. And man I wish I had bought the whole series so I could know what happens next right now!
To address one of the biggest issues people have with this book, yes Hardin is very rude. But Tessa isn't a doormat, she fights back and won't take anything from him. But you have to understand that he isn't cruel for no reason. He has issues that we start to understand toward of the end of the book but things are still unresolved. Granted just being messed up isn't an excuse to treat people the way he does but it helps his case. And he is trying to get better. Getting over deep stuff like that isn't easy and takes time so I understand why he keeps falling back.
Next issue people have that I want to address is the sex. I personally have no problem with it. It does get quite steamy, so if you have a problem with that stuff don't read this book and don't complain about it. And please don't put an age on who should or should not read this book because of the adult content. There are some immature teenagers granted, but don't ruin it for the mature ones who can understand adult situations. If you're worried about the adult scenes, you know what you can handle, but don't ignore this book just because a e it has dirty scenes in it. And yes it does seem like they just fight and make up with sex a little to easily. But you have to understand Tessa's attraction to and relationship with Hardin. Hardin isn't used to formal relationships so the only way he knows how to fix things is to..... you know make Tessa feel good. Not exactly the best thing but hey it makes things more real.
Overall the book is great. The writing level isn't profound, but I don't require that in a book. Good storyline and plot definitely though.I feel the characters are real and not unbelievable. And things aren't made too easy to be true like in other romance books either. Hardin and Tessa have to fight hard for each other. I just wish Hardin had a different group of friends (if you read the book you would understand).
If your on the edge about reading this book, go ahead and take the plunge, it's worth it. If you think you are going to be offended by anything I mentioned skip it because you won't enjoy it and will probably just complain and bring down the ratings.

I can never get tired of reading and seeing the movie . Anna Todd has done it again , her sense of writing is what I love and how she puts these two characters together. The new bonus content is magical that it makes me want more of Tessa and Hardin ❤️. The book itself is gorgeous, it did come with scratches but I didn’t mind it as long as I was able to read the book over and over again.
