Someone To Love: A Small Town Romance (The Skylark Series Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 23 ratings

One month. One fake boyfriend. One shot at forever.

I’ve got four weeks to cross one thing off my bucket list—and it isn’t exactly PG.

I’m not the type to take risks, but when a friend battling cancer dares you to go big, you don’t say no. My mission? Lose my V-card before my baby sister’s wedding. Did I mention she’s marrying my high school crush? Yeah. There’s no way I’m walking into that ceremony as the awkward, untouched older sister.

Enter single dad Ian Barlowe—my sinfully hot, NFL legend neighbor, who owes me big time after his daughter breaks into my house. He offers to make amends by playing my fake boyfriend. How can I say no?

It should be easy enough—except nothing about Ian feels fake. The chemistry? Explosive. His unexpected sweetness? Heart-melting. And the way he seems to like me just as I am? Ruh, roh.

Here’s the thing—I don’t do vulnerability, and neither does he. But as the line between pretend and real starts to blur—especially in the bedroom—I wonder if happily-ever-after is a game we can win. I set out to score one for the bucket list, but now I’m playing for keeps. And if we’re not careful, I might lose my heart in the final play.

This small-town, single dad, standalone sports romance is perfect for readers of Jill Shalvis and Laura Pavlov. If you like your happily-ever-afters swoony, steamy, and filled with laugh-out-loud moments, one click now to fall in love with The Skylark Series.

“His voice pours over me like warm honey, and I don’t want to think about all the ways he could make me sticky sweet.”❤️❤️❤️❤️Sadie and Ian’s story was an absolute delight! What began as a fake relationship transforms into something beautiful! Someone to Love is a heartwarming love story where both characters undergo a transformation that leads them toward each other. From the very first page, I was hooked and could not put the book down. I highly recommend!

What a delight to read this first installment of Michelle Major’s new Skylark Series. Her previous series (Carolina Girls, Magnolia Sisters, etc.) include sweet, touching and fun stories and characters. Someone To Love not only meets those standards but promises other characters with equally satisfying stories to tell.

Someone To Love is the story of Sadie and Ian. Sadie has dedicated her life to caring for others, two and four legged. She stepped in to parent her younger sister when their mother died, and gave up on dreams of her own, while creating a fulfilling way to support them both in the process. But she’s tucked her heart away and put up walls to protect it, which is making it hard to check off one very important item on her life’s bucket list!

Ian is done with a career in football, finally getting serious about being the dad his young daughter needs. He couldn’t know when he moved in next door to Sadie how important she’d become to that plan. Did I mention he’s done with relationships, certain he suffers from a curse that dooms happily-ever-afters?

Both Sadie and Ian have fears that must be overcome. Throw in a lot of lovable dogs, a book club full of good intentioned friends and the town of Skylark, named the happiest town in America, and this is a guaranteed fun and touching read.

Fyi...the story starts out with the introduction of several new characters at the book club. Take notes, if you like, but don’t be put off. All those wonderful women will play their parts and, if Major’s other books are any indication, many of them are bound to have future stories of their own.

One of the most satisfying things about this author’s series is the way she slowly builds community, book by book, so that each new story is more full of delightful tales and tidbits than the last. I look forward to where The Skylark Series will take me. Hope you will too.

Sadie's baby sister is getting married in a month, and not only does she not have a date to this wedding, but the groom is an old crush... Add to that a bucket list item Sadie wants to check off: losing her V card...

Sadie lives in the small town of Skylark, CO, and owns a dog boarding business. Ian, a former football star, and his precocious 12 year old daughter, Riva, move in next door. After a boarding mishap involving the new neighbors and a puppy, Sadie employs Riva as a volunteer trainer. She also accepts Ian's offer to be her fake boyfriend for the wedding

Leading up to the big day, the lines between fake and real begin to blur, especially in the bedroom.

I loved the witty banter between Ian and Sadie. It truly made their fake dating scheme that much more fun. I also enjoyed the connection between Ian and his daughter, and it was heartwarming to read their bond strengthen throughout the story. The ways Sadie and Riva bonded were so fun and genuinely sweet as well. I thought the extra touches of emotion, specifically between Sadie and her sister, added more depth to this romance novel. I'd highly recommend giving Someone to Love a chance!

Sadie and her book club group have come up with some bucket list items to do and Sadie's is a biggie. She wants to lose her V-Card and also take a date to her sister's wedding when she finds out that she sister is marring her high school crush.
So when her new next door neighbor agrees to be her fake boyfriend as who because of something his daughter did, he owes Sadie big time. But there is one thing he doesn't know about and especially when the sparks are flying around them and those feelings that were supposed to be fake start feeling all too real for both of them,...What is going to happen at the wedding...
What can happen in a small town when truths are revealed and reputations are put on the line.

I loved this book so much. The chemistry with Sadie and Ian was instant from the time they met and they nearly melt the pages of the book. I loved all the book club gals and Ian's daughter Riva. The characters are wonderful and delightful in their interfering and kind ways to get Sadie what she wants... Ian and a HEA.
This is a feel good book you won't wan to put down once you start to read. Have a few tissues at the ready as this has so much sentimental feelings and emotions with Sadie and her sister and her friends.
This was my honest review for an ARC of this book

This book has all the feels. Be careful reading in public if you snort laugh as it has pages and pages of witty banter and hilarious comebacks. The author makes you feel like you are there with the characters and it's just too tempting to see what they do next for you to put the book down. I binge read it. Sadie is a people pleaser and has always been the one to take care of others without regard to her own plans. Her friends are encouraging her to get out of her comfort zone especially since her sister Piper's wedding is soon. Ian moves next door and is trying to have a better relationship with his daughter Riva, who is precocious and a bit of a snob until she starts volunteering with Sadie at her doggie daycare. Ian is retired from football star and trying to figure out who he is now. Sadie needs a date for her sister's wedding and Ian gets nicely maneuvered into being her fake boyfriend by her friends Sally and Trina. Hilarity and the occasional misunderstandings ensue quickly. There is the emotional part of the book where each is forced to move out of who they were in the past into who they were meant to be. The characters are quirky, varied, and loyal - minus Bradley. The book is a great read and I can't wait for the next story.
