If you’re a little reluctant to take the entrepreneurial leap, it’s understandable.

Business is an unpredictable world, and lightning can strike when you least expect it. Rob Kosberg works with all kinds of experts who will agree. In fact, he’s gathered 20 of them into this book:

· Joel Erway · Greg Mohr · Joan Walsh · Edward C. Hill · Laura Temin ·
· Albee Shanefelter · Selina Delangre · Jess Hughes · Rami Donahoe ·
· Stephen Krempl · Angela Leapua · Dr. Marcia Hunter · Amir Baluch, MD ·
· Dr. Gena Lester · Roger Khoury · Dr. Deanne De Vries · Tom Wall, PhD ·
· Nichole Lewis · Lori Polep · Dr. Vladimir Frias ·

The above authors can tell you; resilience isn’t about merely surviving — it’s about bringing your most positive, flexible, creative self to the table. And this book has been written to help you do just that.

Inside, you will discover:

  • Never Judge a Book by Its Cover: 4 myths about franchising that may stop you from identifying remarkable opportunities for business success
  • The 4 circles of success—Skills aren’t everything; You also need the right mindset, tools, and plan of action!
  • Why true mastery begins when comfort ends—11 ways to find your way out of the darkness when you’re feeling stuck or facing “defeat”
  • How to hone the 6 crucial attributes of self-leadership so you can intentionally and purposefully influence your thoughts, feelings, and actions
  • A modern model for transitioning your business online and breaking free from the chains of the 9-to-5 lifestyle
  • How to find your sweet spot by generating peaceful profits and focusing on the process instead of performance
  • The Key to Global Growth: why culture and context matter if you want a growing international client base
  • From zero to $1.3 billion—how active listening, process improvement, and continuous improvement will help your company grow and thrive

And so much more.

When you face business setbacks, it can seem like everything is lost.

But successful entrepreneurs ranging from Steve Jobs to Starbucks’ Howard Schultz have shown you successful comebacks are possible—so long as you develop the skills you need to boost your resilience.

I was very impressed with the variety of experiences of the chapter authors, especially Rami Donahoe who includes her life experiences in such an honest way. It is said that vulnerability is a cornerstone of art, the ability to be 'pierced' emotionally; Donahoe allows herself to be vulnerable by getting into the nitty gritty of her early life as a bit of a delinquent in her high school years. By sharing her personal story so honestly and openly, it disarms the reader and encourages one to examine one's own life on such a fundamental level. In a word, it encourages vulnerability. Her approach is forthrightly Christian and rooted in the Bible, but everyone of any faith (or no faith at all) can glean very valuable insights from her chapter, especially the idea that "I" is the center (literal and figurative) of all "anxiety". Self-preoccupation is crippling, and Donahoe's chapter offers much for anyone seeking to transcend the prison of the "I" by pointing out that letting go of one's attachment to ego, in this case through giving everything over to God, is the ultimate liberation from all anxiety. I highly recommend this book, especially this chapter.

There is an author or resiliency tools for every kind of person. The authors are varied in their methods, views, and experiences, giving insight in both familiar and new ways. When I began reading Selina Delangre’s piece, I was initially resistant to what she was saying, which sometimes means in self-exploration that the thing you are resistant to is probably the thing you need to listen to most. And in this case, it was absolutely true. Her insight was tough at first but was resonating by then end. As someone with a chronic illness, I could absolutely relate to and was inspired by Albee Shanefelter’s ability to get through his many challenges with grace and empathy. Chronic illness can be an isolating and uninspiring place, seeing someone thrive in those circumstances gave me hope in my journey. I could absolutely relate to Jess Hughes’ feelings of self-doubt and confusion and Joan Walsh’s thoughts on 21st century leadership are just as applicable at home as in the office. I highly recommend this for entrepreneurs and non. Resiliency is applicable to all aspects of life, and this was a great reminder.

The greatest teacher is experience. I have a library of self-help books that tell me what to do. It's a tragic thing when authors do not walk the walk. After reading Expert Resilience, I not only gained a tremendous amount of insight into why we we do what we do...but most of these authors seem to have walked the walk and outline impressive examples of their own stumbling...RAMI DONAHOE is just that kind of writer. She uses the Bible for what it is intended for; our DAILY walk. She gives and excellent example of how to live out and trust God through very real and somewhat intense situations. Bravo! Well written. Great insight.

This book is not just for entrepeneurs but for so many who need inspiration to be resilient in their everday lives. The stories draw you in and make insightful points that help you apply and reflect to your life. I like how each chapter starts with an author biography. So often these bios are at the end of the book. I always appreciate knowing about the author as I'm reading their chapter.

Overall, a good read to help so many people working in various industries.

A highly practical, authentic and intriguing book that inspires us to never give up and lose self belief, focus and determination. The book is chock full of stories about surviving personal tragedies and failures; overcoming what seems to be insurmountable challenges by exercising mindfulness, courage and grit. Like a tumbler doll, adversity never gets you down in the long run. Tenacity with purpose wins.

Stephen Krempl's chapter advocates the 95/5 Rule – how to recognize opportunities, summon courage to act and achieve impact.

A consummate story teller, Krempl’s examples come alive and one can easily identify with the emotional blockers that hold us back. His reminder that it takes discipline of practice to “wow” one’s audience when the 5% opportunities show up, explains why some people ‘make it big time’ and others don’t. The 5% separates wheat from chaff.

Introverts will benefit from his 95/5 rule as they need to initiate action and demonstrate adaptive agility. His advice on making messages stick is invaluable especially when you have only 60 seconds to anchor positive bias.

Sett meaningful goals that matter to you personally, the importance of finding mentors that grow you, .... finding your true calling and financial smarts that set you up for a comfortable future.

These are just some of the topics covered in this gem of a book - with each piece of advice told first in beautiful story form.

An insightful and fantastically enjoyable read.
