Good replacement for clay litter.

I tried this litter out after using clay for the last 14 years and am going to stick with this new litter. The smell is fine, odor control is good, and the litter clumps well for urine and poo. As an added bonus, my cat hasn’t made nearly as big of a mess as she normally does with this new litter.

The cat litter works pretty good although it's lighter than what my messy cats are used to so I have been sweeping more. It seems to be decent at odor control but I bought this because I thought it was a plastic free product. The bag is actually lined with plastic. They put cardboard on the outside so you would think that it was a plastic free product but it is not a plastic free product and that is why I had to lower it by one star. The coffee being not fair trade certified I could deal with because it's upcycled anyway so it was coffee that would have been throne out. But the secret plastic is BS. It's decent cat litter and more eco-friendly than what most people buy but I do not like the green washing aspect and will not be purchasing it again. At least other brands admit that their bag is plastic by just showing the original bag instead of hiding it behind paper. Also my old litter was a little heavier and made less of a mess because the litter wasn't so very very small. I'll probably do a long form review on YouTube in a couple of weeks but so far it's kind of just acting like regular cat litter but with a small lie. ...... Also I have arthritis but found the bag not to be difficult to carry

This litter has no real smell of it's own, which I like, and it does a great job controlling urine odor! I like the fact that it supposedly does not contain chemicals that can be toxic for my kitties, or for me, and that production can be done with less negative impact on the environment. Solid stools, of course, are going to smell, so I try to scoop them out as soon as I am aware that they have been deposited, but eventually, once it's been covered for a while, it will be less noticeable if you can't get to it right away to scoop it. It's hard to find the poo because the color blends in with the litter. This is NOT a clumping litter, despite claims. The urine "clumps" will simply fall to a fine crumble when you try to find them, let alone try to scoop them out. It does not seem to produce any dust, but has very light, very small granules, and it does make its way outside of the top-entry litter box and will scatter and track. All things considered, I will not buy it again, and would hesitate to recommend it for reasons stated here. After trying so many different litters looking for the one with the most of the desired features, I much prefer the Pidan mixed tofu litter and will go back to using that instead.

I was all for the upcycling but this stuff is awful. my whole bathroom smells like urine. the poop and pee stick to the bottom of the cat box & have to be chiseled off (gross!). and, it tracks because it doesn't clump (exc to the bottom of the box). even the cat hates it. In the 9 years I've had a cat, I have never had these problems with kitty litter.

Litter itself doesnt really have a smell to it. I dont notice a smell at all from the box unless one of the cats decides not to cover its tracks. The smell is so lacking I keep forgetting to check 5/5

Clumps like clay scoopable litter, nothing sticking to the bottom of the box when I scooped. Most everything I scooped out of the box was pretty dehydrated 5/5

The cats took to it right away. Newest kitten had no problem jumping right in and using the box.
It's coffee grounds so its brown. I like this because it makes it harder to see anything in the box, no unsightly uncovered mess. I also find it very modern looking 5/5

If I have to pick a gripe, it's that I want more of it. Ive only had it a few days so i dont know how long it will last but its expensive to fill one box, let alone the other two I have. But coffee isnt cheap so *shrug*
