Play Another Love Song Kindle Edition

WILL SHE PAUSE THE TRACK OF ACHIEVING HER DREAMS OR PRESS PLAY ON THE PLAYLIST OF LOVE AND LIFE?

Danielle Johnson loves nothing more than black old school R&B, Soul & Hip Hop, and cinema. She has a lot going on for herself. A job. Nice apartment and car. And, her LIFE-LONG DREAM: an internship at her favorite radio station since childhood…and that’s about it. She has found all the ways to seclude herself from not just others- but from herself. The only thing that she lets in is music.

When her radio role model, Lady Chanel, sees a glimpse of Danielle’s musical genius during the internship, she offers Danielle the opportunity of a lifetime: to audition to replace her as the next radio show host.

Lacey and Tony, Danielle’s ride-or-dies, do everything to make sure Danielle follows her dream, and she does so with their meddling at every turn, with Lacey as her life coach to bring her out of her shell and Tony as her co-host for the auditions to support her along the way.

Danielle is in for a wild ride when a slow brewing love, an online relationship, and past parental trauma comes into play. A ride she certainly tries to get off on every turn, as she is guided through learning to love herself and be confident in her beauty- inside and out.

But what happens when the ride takes an unexpected twist?

PLAY ANOTHER LOVE SONG is a new adult romance full of growing pains that will sing to the hearts of everyone new to adulting or still have yet to figure it out, with the backdrop of Black 90's & 00's R&B, Soul, & Hip Hop references that every Millennial, Gen Z, and overall music lover can appreciate.

Growing up, Meisha Gladney kept a journal on and off to chronicle her thoughts and feelings. But quickly, that turned into her writing a fiction series in middle school- that she lost and was never able to find those notebooks. Later, she started writing poetry in high school and switched between poetry and fiction throughout college.

She went on to earn her Bachelors in English with a concentration in Writing before returning to her home city of Memphis, TN to become a teacher. While focused on her teaching career, she decided to get her Masters in Education. But, of course, years in the classroom and a pandemic lead Meisha to realize her childhood dream: to become an author.

So Meisha picked back up the pen and started planning out a story, did NaNoWriMo 2021, and now she's here!

Meisha currently still lives in Memphis, where she puts her all into her career in education, while learning to balance it with her passion for creating and writing stories.

When Meisha's not lesson planning, taking on leadership roles in her school, writing and making YouTube videos, she loves spending time with her sisters and mom and cozying up with a glass of wine and good 90s music playlist or 90s Black sitcom or movie.

I was able to receive an advanced reader copy of this book and I loved it. I also bought the ebook and Have since re-read the book. PALS is so a great book for not only a book lover, but also a music lovers.

It follows Danielle Johnson who is an inspiring radio talk show host who has a love for music and it follows her and she navigates love, music, and friendship. Her best friends Lacey and Tony also play a big part of Dani story and it was a book I just didn’t want to let down.

I hope her friends get a book in the future.

Though I do acknowledge there are people with this heavy self doubt that aren’t suicidal, I still found it very hard to DJ. Mother really did a number that resulted in stunted social growth and the self confidence that was lower than low. For me, this was a difficult read because it was difficult to connect with such a heroine. Also, not a fan of the third person writing style.

This book was so good! The twists and turns in the last few chapters had me on the edge of my seat, yelling at the characters myself! Great read for people battling imposter syndrome or insecurity. I think every reader can find ways to connect to the main character.
