She undertakes a religious and self-discovery journey to the faraway land of Bishkek, the Capital of Kyrgyzstan, to discover herself and learn about their culture. Wendy is deeply religious, and her faith helps her through difficult times and joy-filled moments.
This book explores friendship, humor, understanding, hardship, religion, and love. It is beautifully illustrated and wonderfully written, but there is a problem. It was scanned in. While this media transfer was high resolution, the result is a fixed format. This made it challenging to center/fit on an electronic reader and let down the text/graphics quality. Plus, readers cannot search the document.
Hard Is Only Half the Story is worth five stars, but I am giving it four because it was scanned. I do recommend reading it, but for $2.99, I would have expected a higher-quality transfer.

This is a properly produced book: well-edited, formatted, and beautifully illustrated. It tells a tale of culture shock experienced by a person sufficiently unlike me to make it interesting.
