I remember my mom had one of these when I was a child so I wanted to buy one to crack some mixed nuts that I got at the store around Christmas time. It is thinner and not quite as sturdy as the one I had as a child but it will get the job done. It has little ridges in it that are supposed to keep the nuts from sliding, but they are very shallow, so you have to kind of hold the nuts in your hand and crack with the other hand so they don’t go flying. I keep a bowl on my counter with this nutcracker and nuts in them, but I am the only one who ever eats them in my family. All in all it does what it is supposed to do and I am glad I have one now in case I need to use nuts for a recipe or just as a quick snack.
This is just your basic nutcracker, it worked on the almonds I have, but it just feels like not the greatest quality and not sure how well it would hold up . It has a 'grip' inside but I think the ridges could be deeper to hold and break your nut better. It took me a couple tries to crack my almonds, and when it finally cracked enough I got crumbs.
