I bought these Elac UF5 floor standing speakers on Amazon during a black Friday sale in 2018. I already had 2 pairs of the the UB5 bookshelf speakers and was impressed. I also had the UC5 center channel speaker as well. The floor standers completed the set along with a pair of Elac Atmos speakers. Processing is done by my Marantz 7704, also a black Friday deal.Power was another thing.I have an Outlaw Audio 120 wpc 5 channel amp that I was using to run the 5 channel setup I had. The floor standers sounded fine, though not substantially better than the bookshelf's so I bought an Emotiva 5 channel amp with 250 watts per channel all channels driven. And in 2 channel mode, the amp kicks up to 300 wpc. With 4 ohm speakers that kicks up to 490. Into 2 speakers.Yes. That's what you want to do.It made all the difference. These speakers can handle serious power and they shine unbelievable when you do that. The Emotiva powers my fronts, rears and center speakers. The outlaw powers the little atmos speakers and side surrounds. An Oppo UDP-203 handles movies and music and the LG OLED handles the picture. All in all, I think I'm finally done with my system. I hope I never have to add or change anything else. I doubt I could improve on it without dumping hella amounts of money into a completely different system which I have no interest in doing.Bottom line: save your money and go into separates or if your receiver allows external amps, do that. Bypass your internal amp with a pricey external amp with a ton of power and you'll hear the best your system can sound. I had a Denon 7 channel 3000 series amp with outputs for an external amp. That's why I bought the outlaw years ago, to try that for $500. That was worth it, external amps nearly always make your receiver sound better. I eventually took the $1700 plunge into the big Emotiva amp and really, everything else sounds substandard by comparison. It really brings these speakers to life.Nearly forgot, my sub is an Outlaw Audio as well. Also worth it.

I don't really consider myself an audiophile. BUT I WANT TO BE! I started out with a pretty basic Amp + Floor Speaker combo (some Infinity Primus P363s). The sound was nice at first, at least I thought it was... but then as time went on, and I'm not sure why, but my ear became more tuned in to the inadequacies of the system I had. The Infinities just became so dull and boring, absolutely no character and a lot of the details were lost in the highs while the lows were just a bit overpowering (and note, I did have these speakers set up with good positioning). I just didn't enjoy listening to music anymore.

After I moved in to my new house I decided that I'd do a ton of research and invest some of my leftover money in a new system. I also settled on some Fluances for about half the prices of these UF5s... especially because the UF5s apparently just came out and there was little info on them. However I'm glad I stumbled across their existence. A couple reviews, some videos, interviews with the engineer and I was sold. I reached outside my budget for this. And I'm insanely happy with the results.

The difference is night and day. I'm absolutely blown away by these things. The sound fills the room, hell it fills my head. I hear details and nuances. Things existing in the music that I never knew existed. The tones are almost spot on perfect (to my ear). And the overpowering bass that I had with my last set of speakers is totally gone. Even better, the sound is contained to the position I set them up in, as in the sound doesn't blast out the sides and back of my house which means no interrupting the neighbors while still raging at high volume in my living room. My vinyl collection finally sounds worth listening to, my collection sounds completely brand new.

Can't rave enough about these things. And this is on a crummy 50 dollar sherwood (or Sherman?) receiver that I bought on Craigslist. My next upgrade will be a nice integrated amp with some punch, I can't even imagine the treat I'm in for there. Daaaayam.

I'll just add my two cents to other glowing reviews for these speakers. The ELAC Uni-Fi UF5's replaced my ELAC Debut F5's as fronts for my 7.1 home theater system, so I was already sold on the ELAC/Andrew Jones hype. I loved my F5's, and I love the UF5's even more. My system is a hybrid, pulling double duty for home theater and old-school stereo listening, mostly vinyl. The UF5's can go both ways easily. They play well with the rest of my speakers, and they really shine by themselves when I'm listening to music. They definitely dig deep, although I am using an SVS PB-1000 as a sub, so they aren't doing the heavy bass lifting. Still and all, the concentric drivers provide great clarity and a nice soundstage. Love them. One word of caution however. As others have noted, they like power. I'm using an external amp (Emotiva BasX A-300) to power them, and they like the juice. I think they'd do fine with a good AVR, but under-powering them is a bad idea IMO. A word to the wise. With that caveat, they are absolutely the best speakers I have ever owned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Don't let the newer UniFi series make you pass over these amazingly priced origional series
Reviewed in Canada on September 4, 2020
Just a heads up. Even though the replacement to these speakers will soon be available here in Canada, these original UniFi series are on super-sale right now in an obvious effort to sell off final stock, you can score big! These originals are just as wonderful as they always were and shoot way above their price point. The new UniFi speakers are probably pretty good too but at over double the price of today's series sell-off. It's like chocolate ice cream vs strawberry. Both very good. You will be floored by this original series if you have good amplification. There is a reason audiophile speakers are built in a 4ohm configuration with ports on the back. And it's not to accommodate cheaper power and speaker placement. Set up correctly, and powered appropriately, these original series speakers deliver amazing performance that still give me goosebumps every time I listen to them. Don't feel bad about the release of the newer series if you already have UB5's, UF5's, UC5's, or you are planning to buy them now. They are still excellently balanced and wonderful speakers, and are now available at a literal steal! ... Don't hesitate as stock will surely run out soon at these prices!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best bang for your buck (center and towers)
Reviewed in Canada on October 22, 2020
I have to start honest by saying I was able to score a set (2x) for about 800$ so I may be a bit biased by the price I paid. I come from the Elac Debut series where I did my whole home theater setup with this serie, except for the center where I've upgraded to this version. Every time I would listen to movies, the center would impress me. Three years later, I decided to buy this tower set for my living room and boy do they sound great!! It's definitely an upgrade from the Debut series if you have the receive to drive them. I watch movies without a sub as I didn't feel I needed it anymore with those towers. All in all, Andrew Jones knows what he's doing. He got me to give them over 5000$ in less than 4 years. The thing they may not know is I will keep them for years to come and technically won't have to upgrade for a very long time. Unless my wallet is big enough to upgrade later on... time will tell. ;)

Should never sell speakers as a single unit as hifi is always stereo and speakers must come in pairs!
    Utterly disappointed!

Excellent sound from relatively low cost speakers. Have hardwood floors and no kids so not using speaker leg stands which are more orientated towards a carpeted room. Added 4 large felt cushioning pad to bottom of speakers to avoid scratching hardwood floor. Enjoying the sound of $1500.00 speakers for half the cost.
