Editorial Reviews

Review

"Dr. Vitz has organized a powerful set of distinctions that can alleviate suffering in anyone- no matter how much spiritual, psychological, or self-help work one has done. She connected me to the roots of certain parts of my personality that I didn't realize had come from pain. These parts were 'work-arounds' that I'd created to get by and be liked. Once I became aware of them, I was able to softly let them go. She's a brilliant healer!" Mandy

"I wanted to finish this book with the intent upon which it was written before I provided a review. Prior to learning of Dr Vitz' vision, I had never heard the term Emotional Insobriety, and the very idea that one could be addicted to emotions, any emotions, was foreign and never occurred to me. What I did not expect was how clearly her message of healing resonated with me, the drastic transformation I experienced, and how remarkably noticeable my change was to others. Are you happy? Are your relationships healthy? Are others happy with you? Are you looking at life thru a narrow lens? How do you truly know if you've never tested it? If you're struggling with your romantic relationships, friendships, or your own personal relationship with yourself, and are tired of the rollercoaster toxicity, then I cannot imagine a more apropos guide. What Dr Vitz has effectively done is to provide an in-depth instruction manual for self-assessment, self-healing, and self-love. This is not a book on how to sit in front of a mirror and recite platitudes or constantly regurgitate affirmations in attempts to convince yourself you are a good person. This book is an exhaustive exploration into who you are, and who you've been, so you can start the process of becoming who you want to be, who you should be, and who you really are. Brutal honesty with yourself, and your relationships, is the essential key to getting the most out of this book. So many programs fail to give you insight as to why you are the way you are. But knowing why just may be the key to helping yourself become the person you wish you could be, while removing the obstacles that have impeded your growth. But, to be clear, this is not about assigning blame or guilt to yourself or anyone else. Stop being a victim to your emotions, and learn to control your actions without the irrational influences of addictive anger, depression, fear, or judgement. Become part of the "levelheaded" community. Embark on a journey where you will likely do a lot of crying, soul-searching, and healing as you expose the things you may not like very much about yourself. But as the caterpillar becomes the butterfly, so must you grow into a new and healthy you. Ask yourself, do want to be the moon reflecting the sun's light, or glow with the power of a star? My favorite quote: 'the only person responsible for your happiness is you.'" Stephen S.

"First of all the title of this book intrigued me! The term "emotional sobriety" did not sound very appealing, but that was before I understood what it meant.

Although I consider myself to be a rock solid person; quite happy with who I am internally, I have gained much insight and pleasurable reading from this unique, inspiring book.

Dr. Andrea Vitz is a talented writer. She challenges all of us to be and do better. I have known ANDREA for ten years and have seen firsthand the changes she has implemented in her life. She does not just talk about change; SHE HAS CHANGED AND IS EVEN MORE WONDERFUL THAN BEFORE SHE DID ALL THIS PERSONAL WORK.

NOW YOU CAN LEARN HOW TO LIVE YOUR BEST LIFE." Bill Wallace

The magic key to your emotional well being
This book is gold. Not only it explains in smallest details our behaviors and where or what’s triggered from, but it also gives you the tools on how to work on, and with yourself to overcome and become better than yesterday. I never understood emotional sobriety and what it meant, but Dr. Vitz has this very simple approach by utilizing a very clear language and vocabulary that is doesn’t make it sound more complicated than it is. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE BOOK AND DR. Vitz.

Highly recommend…. If you DON’T find yourself or somehow identify in her descriptions something is wrong. What she is detailing is endemic to the human race. Get the book. (At the very least) Give yourself the option of up-leveling your human kindness. Your future self will thank you and so will everyone else around you.

Dr. Vitz in her book "The you you've never met" and the accompanying workbook offers super practical, actionable advice about how we can get mastery over our emotions, behaviors and thought patterns. The program takes you step by step through a process of deeply understanding why you think and behave the way you do, and then quickly moves on to give you practical tools and practice to change any damaging patterns.

I bought this book, the workbook and went through Dr. Vitz's online 12 week coaching program. Coming out of it I have gained so much insight into the "why" of what I think, and can recognize how my unconscious beliefs impact my behaviors. The program also gives you tools and practice reps to walk you through actually being able to make different choices moving forward. It's not just theory - you come out the other side with a totally different perspective and way of being in the world. So grateful for finding this work.

I truly can’t recommend this enough - the gift that keeps on giving. I read this book 2 years ago with both of my parents and we all agree - it has forever changed our family dynamic into a more peaceful, supportive, loving and understanding unit. It also changed how I see myself, how I operate as a friend, as a partner, as a daughter, as a person in the world. Unlike anything I have ever read before with such powerful and valuable insights and information on understanding your emotions and your triggers… all of the WHY’s that I could never understand. READ THIS BOOK!!!! The title speaks for itself! Take the jump - look inward and allow it to change your life forever. Endless thanks to this incredible journey made possible by Dr Andrea Vitz.

Emotional Sobriety is the one thing I never knew I always needed. It's only been 8 weeks since reaching out to Andrea for help who now coaches me 1:1 once a week + reading the book + using the workbook. Being on this journey of becoming emotionally sober I'm honestly a completely transformed person. I yell less. I've let go of much resentment. I can spot my triggers. And, I can have healthier conversations with those I love without becoming emotionally belligerent. I still have so much work to do but I'm motivated and inspired by how far I've come in such a short amount of time and can't wait to see what the future holds!

If you are ready to uncover truths about yourself and change your perspective on your life, this is the book for you. Along with the workbook, you’ll learn how the stories you have about yourself are not reality. You’ll understand where they came from-and how to change them- so you can become the most authentic and happiest version of you. Andrea’s approach makes “the work” feel empowering!

Andrea is Amazing!! I first joined her group process to go through this book and the associated workbook. Then I reached out to her and now meet with her regularly. She has completely transformed my life and made me understand why I was the person I was. She also helped my sister. She transformed both of us in a manner no traditional therapist has ever been able to do.
