- Reviewed in the United States on March 5, 2025A very engaging read with data and interesting examples that help drive home the concept of Meaningful Work + Ideal Job + Great Boss = Commitment. I've been a leader of teams for 4 decades and still came away with things I can do a better job with for my team. The section on coaching is great. I also recommend Joe's YouTube videos. I've now started watching them. There is more there than repeating what's in the book. Don't forget to download the book's resource kit. It's excellent.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 27, 2025This practical, no-nonsense book is exactly what leadership teams and employers have been missing. This book is guaranteed to inspire internal reflection and brief discomfort, as a leader and as an employee. If you’re ready to move beyond theory and into impactful leadership, this book is your guide. It’s not just a read; it’s a roadmap for creating a stronger, more fulfilling, flexible, humane workplace for yourself and those you lead.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2023This book may end my career, and I'll tell you why.
You see this title and think it's about "Employee Loyalty". It is not - open the book and find out.
Most reviews are talking about how Joe delivers a timely message about the changing landscape of the workplace. They talk about his engaging and compelling style - grounded in extensive research. Or perhaps they mention the captivating stories and case studies that illustrate the salient points and give an emotional backbone to the book's core message.
Still, others are talking about how this is not just a book, but a playbook for attracting, nurturing, and retaining talent. Employalty shows you the way and spells out the steps.
Employalty has a 100% 5-star rating as of this review. This is for good reason.
I am currently working my dream job! I crawled up from an abrasive and sometimes inhumane atmosphere to get here. As I read through this book, I started to see that my situation is still not acceptable. Too many sacrifices erode my health and peace of mind. That gnawing in my stomach now has vivid clarity. Something has to change.
Whether you are a business owner, a corporate manager, or "just" an employee like me - this book will un-lense your eyes. It is worth your investment.

- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2023As a former professor of entrepreneurship, I saw so much value in Joe Mull’s latest book, Employalty. I was struck by the practicality of Mull’s approach to the subject, as well as the insights he shared, gleaned from his research. It really is a how-to book for those in management seeking to improve their business’ environment and productivity, as well as up their own game and become indispensable to their organization (and its’ employees). The toughest job any business deals with is finding good, trainable employees and then polishing them so that they shine.
Thanks to Joe’s writing style and passion, he’s also provided a resource for people looking for not just a job, but a career that teaches them about themselves, identifies and utilizes their strengths, taps and develops their skills. In reading this work, one can identify what to look for in a position, what kind of people they want to work with and what kind of boss is going to be a champion for them, personally and professionally. Thank you, Joe, for this contribution to making the world a better place! Here’s to the readers that “get it,” then live it!

- Reviewed in the United States on May 9, 2023This book is a great read. It entertains you while teaching you. The concepts of this book are so clearly explained and are immediately relatable. The idea of the "internal scorecard" that every employee has makes sense to me.
This book is a great tool for anyone.
Work for a living? This book can help you determine your own internal scorecard, and help you make decisions about your current position or moving on.
Manage employees? This book can help you determine what makes people want to join your organization and keep working for you.
Own a company? This book can help you escape the "No One Wants to Work Anymore" trap that many businesses are falling into, and thrive -- attract and keep the best talent out there.
I highly recommend this book.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2023After hearing Joe speak at our Montana State SHRM conference, I was eager to hear more. I listened to the podcast which immediately caused me to purchase the audio book because I didn't want to wait for the print copy! The information is so relevant and relatable. I've subscribed to the podcast, asked my managers to listen to it and have suggested we buy copies of the book for our entire leadership team. The information is so easy to understand and makes perfect sense.
- Reviewed in the United States on May 10, 2023This book is incredible. I want to mail a copy to a few of my former bosses. Joe Mull’s writing style is extremely approachable and immediately applicable. This book was missing in the landscape in, and its messaging is helpful for those who are leading people and remote, hybrid, and in person settings. There is no silver bullet when it comes to great leadership but this book, when taken seriously - hard work and all, will certainly help a lot.
