Review

"Brent Cassity was born to succeed yet that success bred a nightmare that brought his whole world crashing down around him. Nightmare Success: Loyalty, Betrayal, Life Behind Bars, Adapting, and Finally Breaking Free is his inspiring story of how he lifted himself up from the darkest days, amidst the greatest of betrayals, and survived. His simple message: to always have a plan, set goals to strive for and be willing to adapt, will help others see that second chances are just one step forward. You just need the courage to take that step. Nightmare Success is a captivating memoir and a cautionary business thriller that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next and how will Cassity break free from his nightmare and triumph."

-Adrienne Sparks, Principal, Sparks Marketing Consultancy

"When faced with adversity Brent Cassity chose to be a survivor not a victim as he navigated the collapse of his business empire, financial ruin, and a heartbreaking family betrayal that could have crushed him. In his memoir Nightmare Success: Loyalty, Betrayal, Life Behind Bars, Adapting, and Finally Breaking Free, Brent Cassity shows us that if you have the gumption and faith to lift yourself up, take one step at a time, one day at a time, you can find your way to the other side and have hope for a better tomorrow."

-Kathi Koll, Founder, The Kathi Koll Foundation, Supporting Caregivers in Need, and award-winning author of Kick-Ass Kinda Girl: A Memoir of Life, Love, and Caregiving

Near-Delusional Account of a Ponzi Scheme that has cost taxpayers over $450 million

Near-Delusional Account of a Ponzi Scheme that has cost taxpayers over $450 million
This book is so inaccurate that it's difficult to write a serious review. Throughout the book, the author paints himself as a young man who was screwed over by almost everyone including his father. He takes close to zero responsibility for his actions in a scheme that went on for years and years years before taken down by law enforcement. Nowhere in his book does he mention the thousands and thousands of documents that were falsified, the millions and millions that were pilfered from trust accounts, and the lies told to keep everything afloat. While the author certainly did not possess the intellect to be the brains behind the fraud - that distinction belongs to his father - he was still a big part of the problem. The taxpayer's bill for this fraud is over $450 million. I never read that in the book either.....

Author Brent Cassity could easily be called the Captain of the Survive and Conquer Team. In this bracing memoir the life of a successful man - in life and in business and even in prison - is shared in a manner that both shocks and wins admiration. The themes of succeeding in the insurance business (CEO of Forever Enterprises) and having a happy family life are paired with parental (paternal), business, and judicial betrayals, and imprisonment in an upswing downswing story that is near cinematic! In relating his life experience to date, Brent has provided one of the most successful journals/memoirs about having the courage to survive the most horrendous eclipses in life, a story that provides a strong stimulus to believe in second chances. Rich in details about his insurance business concepts as well as his microscopic dissection of his life in Leavenworth prison, the admiration for the author grows with the turning of every page. Toward the end of the book he shares a family created sign, seen as he walks free of prison: ‘You don’t know how STRONG you are until being STRONG is the only choice you have.’ This book is both a fascinating ‘novel’ as well as a hefty does of stimulation to survive life’s arrows. Very highly recommended

Nightmare Success: Loyalty, Betrayal, Life Behind Bars, Adapting, and Finally Breaking Free is an astonishing memoir by Brent Cassity. In this book, Cassity explores the darkness of prison life and the lessons he learned there. He paints vivid and gut-wrenching scenes to describe the pain and humiliation of being searched, the brutality of prison life, and the feeling of utter desolation.

What helped Cassity was his positive attitude and his will to survive despite the seemingly insurmountable odds. He talks of coping strategies and how his loyalty to his fellow inmates and his sense of justice kept him going.

After years of hard work and dedication, he earned his freedom and went on to start a successful small business. His journey to success serves as an inspiring example of how courage and determination can help one overcome their darkest nightmares and achieve their dreams.

Nightmare Success is a thought-provoking read. Cassity’s storytelling will leave readers with an unforgettable account of his struggle for survival in the face of adversity. Highly recommended for fans of memoirs and crime dramas alike.

Nightmare Success: Loyalty, Betrayal, Life Behind Bars, Adapting, and Finally Breaking Free: A Memoir by Brent Cassity is classified as a personal success in business type of book. It is a personal take on a very intimate experience of the author’s. He describes how he lost his hope as he ended up in prison, how he go there, how he coped while in prison as well as how he handled it, and what life was like on the other side. He compares the physical aspect of being in prison with the prison of one’s mind. The stories he tells throughout this book are quite intriguing in a way I was not expecting. I did not believe this would be a book I would much enjoy but the author did a great job keeping things interesting.

I am so proud of Brent, the author!!! In this book you will find him reliving very dark days while also relishing in wonderful days growing up in his favorite town, Springfield, MO and raising his family. This book takes the reader on a journey of severe ups and downs. While the book does describe the business failing that ended him in prison the journey goes much deeper into personal struggles with family, health of loved ones, friendship struggles and more. Brent's book is not about innocence or guilt but more about when your worst nightmare becomes your reality how do you weather the storm. Brent describes in detail how he adjusted his sails to weather the storms in his life and I think it can help many people. We can only hope to see someone who went through hard times, made mistakes and lived through the consequences of his actions share with us how to stay positive and hopeful for better days. Give it a read-I trust you will be glad you did.

'Nightmare Success' is a memoir about freedom, and the author has navigated life through thick and thin, conquering what is believed to be a better understanding of himself. I thought the personal touch and the honesty really took the book to another level.

I found this very difficult to put down once I started.

Many of us have created our own personal prisons that confine us in ways very similar to the real thing. Cassity provides strategies for moving through these unthinkable experiences that can really help others to cope and come through stronger. Very well done!

It reminded me of the Churchill quote "If you're going through hell, keep going."...

Brent Cassidy spent 5 years in prison after being a successful ceo for decades. This book is part biography, part business training
where he imparts helpful advice from his time as a CEO, as well as what he learned while in prison that can be applied to a business. This was interesting. I found reading about someone's life in prison helped me see how not like the movies it really is. This helped give a unique insight. However, much of the business advice I have read in other books and want really new for me.
