A type "A" polarized plug will not fit in this device

A type "A" polarized plug will not fit in this device
This plug says it fits a "type A" plug and the opening on the left is bigger so you would think it would accept a polarized plug. In fact it will not fit a polarized plug and that is bad since most of the 2 prong plugs now are polarized. I purchased this plug because it can be used with a higher amp appliance (15A) and that plug will not fit in this device. That means this plug has limited usefulness and I will not likely buy any more.

These have been a life saver in my new house. All my bed rooms are on the same electric circuit so come summer time we can only have one AC on at a time. This was tough with young ones with hot nights. Ended up using these plugs, and they worked great controlling three different ACs so we can cycle through them. Currently I am using them for my under cabinet
Lights on a schedule. They perform flawlessly.

I've been trying different HomeKit devices for the last few years and I finally decided to try the Aqara system. Along with the smart hub I also purchased 2 of their Smart Plugs. Adding the smart plugs into my HomeKit ecosystem literally took less than 30 seconds between when I opened the box to when I had each plug integrated into the Home app. The smart plug is a little larger than other HomeKit plugs I have, but when used in a standard wall outlet it won't block the bottom outlet so you can still plug other things into the wall. I have the smart plug integrated into a few automations in the Apple Home app and response is pretty quick, if not short of instantaneous. So far so good, and because the smart plug is part of a hub-based system, if ever my Internet connection disconnects, I can still control and monitor the smart plug (as with all of my other Aqara devices) through my LAN connection. Super quick setup, full compatibility with HomeKit!

Works well.

I bought this for only one reason - to extend my Aqara Zigbee range, and for that it works well. If you are looking for smart plugs, there are better, cheaper, and more functional alternatives out there.

I had added an Aqara Door and Window sensor to our curbside mailbox and set up a "You've got mail!" routine in Alexa to let us know when the mail had arrived. After initially pairing with my Aqara M2 hub and working successfully for a few days, the door and window sensor's signal strength deteriorated to poor, and then eventually went offline completely. Subsequent re-pairings yielded the same pattern - connected poorly for a few days and then went offline.

Having read that Aqara's wall switches with neutral acted as repeaters for their devices, I swapped out a TP-Link Kasa switch in our garage (the garage being an intermediate point between the M2 hub and the mailbox), only to find that the Aqara switch in the garage at best gets a "fair" signal, and doesn't seem to be recognized at all by the door and window sensor as a repeater, so no go on the wall switch solving my problem.

I then purchased this smart plug, figuring the flexibility of being able to plug it into a variety of outlets to see where it would best extend the signal was an advantage over having to hard wire switches in locations that may or may not work (and there are more outlets than wall switches). I ended up plugging it in to an outlet on an exterior wall nearest the outdoor mailbox.

Initial results were disappointing - the door and window sensor in the mail box initially paired and reported an "Excellent" Zigbee signal, but then again deteriorated to poor and then went offline. It took several re-pairings of the door and window sensor until it established a steady "Excellent" Zigbee signal, with the result being that the "You've got mail!" routine is working consistently now.

So I'd say if you buy this plug to extend your Aqara Zigbee coverage, give it a few days and perhaps a couple re-pairings to finally get stubborn devices to recognize and use the plug as an intermediate signal booster.

I switched from the iHome iSP6X to the Aqara smart plug due to the iHome's unreliability and discontinued cloud support. The Aqara plug has been solid in terms of connectivity for the few months I've had it. It seamlessly integrates with all assistants and complements my growing Aqara collection. My only concern is its design; a slimmer profile would be preferable to occupy just one slot on the surge protector. Other than that, I'm happy with my purchase.

I already have an Aqara Zigbee hub powering my porch swi tech, so setup was easy for me. However, the plug works great and is much easier to control than my old digital timer. I did have some trouble plugging the lamp being controlled into the plug, but that was because it is an old lamp and the plug is bent.

Very nice plug. Has energy monitoring for watts presently used and history/data to look at. Timer function in app is adjustable by the minute for up to 23hours & 59 minutes. Able to set scenes within the app and able to set a maximum watt for protection (etc will auto turn off if you set at @100watts to 1800w, in one hundred increments) I got mine setup with their wireless mini switch, to turn on my Christmas lights. Yes it does required their hub to use, so another ecosystem. Also got to put a lot of force when plugging in a two pong polar plug(little a old style extension cord. Very happy with it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible unreliable product.
Reviewed in Canada on June 20, 2023
How did you manage to make such a bad product despite you have a specific HUB to have a reliable connection??? HOW? I don't even where to start it from:
1. No matter what you do you can't make these things working through Homekit (yes I have HUB, in fact I have 2)
2. No matter what plugs are losing connection in the NATIVE APP and aren't reachable
3. Smart buttons don't work and unreachable as well (neither through the app or homekit)
Utter trash. I ordered different devices for almost $600 after having a very positive experience with their lock, but now I'm returning it all. It is unusable rubbish that shouldn't be sold on Amazon.
