- Reviewed in the United States on August 5, 2014My problem with most summer cookbooks is that they assume a grill at your cabin, and lots of time to spend on dinner prep, presumably chatting with your houseguests over cocktails while the grill chef works away. This cookbook, on the contrary, delivers what I want in summer cooking -- no long shopping lists, no elaborate prep work, just dishes that come together with great flavors and simple techniques in an ordinary kitchen. (Although there is a good selection of "on the grill" recipes too.) The photography is beautiful, and you can see what you're about to cook, without so much of it that it turns the book into what I call a "kitchen brick." Even living in a big city, some cookbooks call for ingredients that would have me chasing all over town, but I haven't yet found any recipe that can't be managed with a trip to Whole Foods (or equivalent). Still working my way through the recipes, but almost worth the price of the book: the chicken breasts stuffed with prosciutto, basil and halloumi. They are a huge hit in my house with grown-ups and teens, and it's almost embarrassing how easy they are. Also two very good, simple shrimp dishes that have some unique elements and don't seem to create any leftovers!

I have my own garden and it is a great learning experience. If I can have a successful garden anyone can do it for sure:) Great recipe book to go along with your garden adventure!

3.0 out of 5 stars I have to admit I was a little disappointed with this cookbook
I have to admit I was a little disappointed with this cookbook. The photography is lovely and there's nothing wrong with the actual contents... I just find myself flicking through the pages thinking "Did this really need a recipe?" - I guess it can be good for inspiration, and I would happily eat everything in it, but it is pretty basic.
