Saying Yes! to Saying No, moved me to being convicted of how calloused I had become to the influences in our world today, and yet I felt challenged to, take a stand against those same influences for my sons. If you have children or grandchildren, you will want to teach them to "Say No" when it counts, and this book will give you the tools to start now! -
Ryan Knight D.C.

There is a great deal of time spent educating students on the risks of obesity and the effects of smoking and drinking, Christy Baca feels more could be said about the health risks that are involved with sexual activity outside of marriage.  Studies tell us that 40% of abstinent teens are participating in oral sex.  According to a Bloomberg study, a virus spread by oral sex may cause more cases of throat cancer in men than smoking.
Are you one of the 90% of parents who wish they knew what to say when it came to talking to your son or daughter about sex?
Saying Yes! to Saying No will equip you with scripture, and communication tools to give you confidence to become the parent who is meeting the needs of the 87% of teens who say it would be easier to maintain a sexually pure lifestyle if their parents would have open conversations with them about sex. Saying Yes! to Saying No addresses issues like sexting, pornography, boundaries in dating, and much more. Saying Yes! to Saying No will give you tools to start developing the conversation of sexual intimacy from age three, building on that conversation through your son or daughter's young adult years.
Powerful Scriptures are placed in each chapter to remind you of the promises God has given you as a parent.

    About the Author:

Christy holds a teaching degree from Texas A&M. She has taught abstinence education for 9 years in public schools, private schools and youth groups. Christy teaches from the perspective of a real mom living in a real world. Her communication is filled with truth, delivered with energy, warmth and grace. She lives in North Texas with her husband, David, of seventeen years and their two teenage daughters. When Christy is not speaking or writing she can be found in the kitchen, at the Architect's office keeping books, at a basketball/soccer game, choir concert, football game watching her favorite hi-stepper dance or with her friends.

    My Review:

The world that we are living in is not the same as it was 10 years ago much less 20 years ago when I just happen to be a teenager. The advancement in technology has made our lives and the lives of our children blessed in many ways and in many ways has become a curse. With this advancement evil has been thrust into the spotlight alot more than it ever was before. So as parents it is our job to equip them with the information they need to step into this world and in sense prepare them for battle.

The author a mom herself has been teaching children about abstinence for many years and has also been trying to teach parents how to prepare their children in a world filled with everything pointing to sex and instant gratification. She has tirelessly researched for her readers all possible venues out there that we should know about and be on the look out for. Her bottom line is put all you can into your children and help them to see the bigger picture here. They are apt to hurt themselves in more ways than one. When they reach a certain age it is up to them to use their parents teachings to protect themselves.

Christy Baca is telling the world what she already knows and has taught her children. By teaching them abstinence we give them the key to a better future marriage and a better life the way God intended.

**Disclosure** This book was given to me for my honest review from the author.

This book is an easy read that challenges every parent to get involved in a very practical way by teaching your children why abstinence is so important. Christy Baca writes from the perspective of a Mother and that makes the material much more than just facts, but tools for informing our young people the emotional, spiritual and physical effects of the choices our kids make regarding sex. As a father of four kids, two of them teenagers, I can say that I was totally unaware of some of the trends going on "out there" where our kids live in both school and cyberspace that were serving to shape their ideas about sex. Baca challenged ME to be the one initiating the conversation with my teens and preteens so that I can, in a sense, get there before the world does, and answer their questions and let them know what to be aware of that their peers may not be telling them. Her personal examples from her own life and family really helped to illustrate the principles she was outlining in the book. This should be required reading for every parent!!!

In a society were educators and politicians are trying to promote immoral behaviors in the name of freedom, this book helps parents talk to their young ones about the importance of purity and abstinence. It's sad that the results of sex outside of marriage kick in after the fact a young girl has to deal with her decision and handle the guilt that comes with it. The young man being naive and selfish is to immature to realize how harmful this will be to the young lady. Young ladies have more worth and value then the media and friends give them.

Christy does a great job of connecting with various keys issues.

I teach at a high school, and I am starting my twentieth year tomorrow. I also have two teens myself. This book is an excellent read and to the point about what your teens are facing each day at school. I commend the author on every topic that she has included in this book. The conversations that I intercept in class or the halls are heart breaking sometimes. I have always said that parents need to attend school with their teens just one day, and their eyes would be opened as to what our teens face each day. Parents, everything that Baca talks about in her book happens everyday in every high school. If we as parents don't equip our preteens and teens with the knowledge to handle these situations such as sexting, then we aren't standing in the gap for our children. Parents educate your preteens and teens; they need you.

This book really opened my eyes to some things teenagers are faced with and the fact that they really do want parents to help them navigate their world. This book is short enough for a busy parent, but thorough enough that you can refer back to it later. I recommend every parent with children read this book. Sad to say, but in today's world, parents really need to read this book before their children hit middle school; early elementary is not too early. Parents do need to remember that they are the parent and teach their child to say 'no' when necessary and teach their child that saying 'yes' to saying 'no' really is ok! The author provides real life examples and practical steps to help you through the teenage years.

A MUST read -even for moms of boys! Why? Because boys date, and hopefully will date girls that have parents that stay informed and read great books like this one! It is SO important to stay current on issues that each generation faces.
Simple, direct, informative advice from a "real" mom living a "real" life in today's world.
