Bounce Back 2: No Such Thing as Perfect Paperback – November 7, 2023
Purchase options and add-ons
Emma can’t help comparing herself to her bright and popular older sister, Julia. Try as she might, Emma can’t seem to please her mom as much as her sister does.
The more Emma measures herself alongside Julia and others, the more pressure she feels to try to change. But trying to be as good as everyone else at everything is exhausting and frustrating.
With help from her friends and basketball teammates, as well as Lexi, the French bulldog she’s dogsitting, Emma realizes that there’s no such thing as “perfect”―and it feels better to be true to herself, instead of trying to please others. But will other people, especially her mom, understand that Emma may not excel at the same things as her sister?

- Reviewed in the United States on November 28, 2023What sets Misako’s stories apart from others of the same genre is her ability to authentically write from the perspective of a tween/teen girl, capturing all the nuanced complexities involved in friendships during that time. My eleven year old found it very relatable. I love how the story has the main characters involved in school sports: basketball. The book has an awesome way of delivering the message that social comparison keeps you from knowing yourself and moving forward. Misako is an amazing artist and an engaging writer. Looking forward to more!

- Reviewed in the United States on November 15, 2023I got this book for my 2 daughters (12 and 14). We got the first book (bounce back) and looked forward to this book coming out. The contents are right at their age and they loved the book especially how the main character (Emma) overcame her internal/emotional problems by expressing and communicating with others and understand the importance of being herself.
I read this book too and I, as a parent of teenagers, highly recommend to read this book!

5.0 out of 5 stars GREAT CONFIDENCE BOOST 👏 PERFECT FOR PERFECTIONIST KIDS
This book is a fantastic tool for helping kids build confidence and embrace a growth mindset. The story is incredibly captivating, and the illustrations are absolutely stunning. My twin daughters were so inspired that they began painting and creating their own comics. We've gifted this book to several friends, and the feedback has always been overwhelmingly positive.
Highly recommended!
