Hose threads and pipe threads have different thread patterns. Hose-to-pipe fittings are a convenient way to connect them. Typical usage scenarios might include connecting a hose to an irrigation system or an irrigation component to the end of a hose. Their durable brass or plastic construction ensures years of reliable use. Use pipe thread tape on all male pipe threads (MPT) to ensure leak-free connections. Recommended operating pressure is 30 PSI. For outdoor irrigation use with cold water only.

It's a good concept, but just couldn't handle the water pressure we needed. I'm sure it would have worked on a normal house water line set up. We needed something a bit beefier for a long-distance hose to hose setup.
We ended up returning the PVC fitting and going with brass instead. I gave it low ratings on value and sturdiness due to our extreme application.
