Pray: Letting the Lord's Prayer Shape the Rhythms of Your Prayer Life Kindle Edition

5.0 5.0 out of 5 stars 7 ratings

"Lord, teach us to pray."

Have you ever asked that question? Asked Jesus, I mean.

Because it is a profound question to ask God how to pray...

...it is even more profound when we choose not to listen and learn from the response of Jesus.

Whether you are learning how to pray for the very first time or have been praying your whole life, there is so much to see and learn in The Lord's Prayer.

Dietrich Bonhoeffer even went so far as to say The Lord's Prayer is an entire summation of every prayer in all of scripture. I would take it one step further to say there is no prayer that isn't wrapped up in the words of The Lord's Prayer.

When Jesus, who is God, teaches us how to pray to God, then we should stop and listen and dissect what it is God is teaching us.

Even for those who have been praying for decades there is so much to see and learn from the prayers of scripture and see their fulfillment, breadth, and depth portrayed in the words of The Lord's Prayer.

For those who are learning to pray for the first time, the words of The Lord's Prayer are simple and there is beauty in the simplicity of what Jesus says we should be praying for and how to pray. Jesus teaches us that God doesn't need fancy words and long stretches of intense prayer...but an open and honest heart willing to give itself over to God's love.

While you may seek to learn how to pray or pray "more correctly," my hope is that you learn to fall in love more deeply with Jesus, the Psalms, and the prayers of those who have gone before you.

Hello there!

My name is Dylan Scott Miller. Honestly, I'm a super regular dude.

I love my wife & kids, I own a small business, I go to a protestant church, I volunteer...the list of normalcy goes on and on.

But let me share a little bit about what makes me unique:

> I wear flip flops all year, even in the snow

> I pretty much always wear either a sock hat (or beanie, depending on where you're from) or baseball cap

> I studied Latin in high school and then Biblical Greek & Hebrew - so the only languages I know aren't spoken anymore

> I love Ultimate Frisbee and can throw a Frisbee fairly accurately and decently far using just my toes (I'm proud of it, too)

> I write...a LOT...and I like to write in a ton of different things

Most of these author bios are maybe a bit dry, so I included all the fun and interesting stuff. We can talk accolades and professionalism later, yeah?

I like to write in the tech space, in digital marketing, in ministry & practical theology, in fantasy, in sci-fi, in horror, etc. So my guess is that, at some point, you'll find something from me you enjoy.

So stay in touch and check everything out happening at my content publishing company: DSM Story Forge (dsmstoryforge.com)

This was a great interpretation of the Lord's Prayer. The author proposes that while the prayer was meant as a guideline for our everyday prayers, we can also use it as a guideline on how to live our lives.

"When God stops becoming our drive-thru and starts becoming our everything, then the world opens up to us in more ways than we could imagine." Miller, Dylan. Pray: Letting the Lord's Prayer Shape the Rhythms of Your Prayer Life (p. 15). DSM Story Forge LLC. Kindle Edition.

I especially appreciated the author's authenticity and raw honesty when he tells his own personal story in the introduction. This book is an easy and interesting read. I highly recommend it.

Indeed there is a rhythm to prayer. If the lord is directing in our prayers, we'll draw even. Loser to Him.
