Marisa Castilla’s life is in need of a rewrite. Her ex-boyfriend/boss just fired her, the guest room she’s occupying is about to be taken over by a newborn, and she’s drowning in student loan debt. Swallowing her pride, she reaches out to her estranged father and makes the temporary move to Red Mountain, leaving behind her beloved city and corporate ambitions. Transitioning to being a lowly reporter for her father’s small town newspaper is a culture shock, and constantly bumping into Ethan Ledger, her less-than-friendly neighbor, who also happens to own the vineyard cottage she’s staying in, doesn’t make things easier.

Ethan Ledger recently assumed the role of CEO of his family’s wine empire. An anxious over-thinker, he wears a grumpy facade like armor. Still adjusting to running the family business, he can’t afford any distractions, especially not the beautiful one next door. He only has two rules for his new neighbor/tenant: no visitors and no expectations of friendship. But when Marisa breaks through his tough exterior, friendship soon blooms into late-night texts and telenovela marathons.

Feelings develop and lines blur, and Ethan is prepared to break every rule he’s ever had for Marisa. However, an enticing offer for her dream job back in the city clashes with Ethan’s roots in Red Mountain.

Sparks fly and wine flows between the most unlikely pairing, but sometimes the rarest blends are the most satisfying.

So cute!
Another ARC from an indie author that I really enjoyed! Marisa was fired from her job by her ex, who had cheated on her. She was lost and in need of a change. She reached out to her dad, who she didn’t have the best relationship with, and decided to move to a small, wine country town about four hours from Seattle.Instead of staying with her dad and his new family, she stays at a nearby vineyard’s cabin. Her neighbor? The new, cinnamon roll, owner of the vineyard. Ethan himself was dealing with a recent breakup. His fiancee left him for his best friend. So when he meets Marisa, he forces himself to stay far away from her. But we all know that that never happens 😉There chemistry was perfect and I loved getting to know Ethan on a more intimate level. I will say, this book is over 400 pages, so if that’s not your vibe then I would skip it. But this book was so easy to read and get hooked. The pages flew by!

What a great debut! I adored the hero, a man whose bark is worse than his bite. He's grumpy because he has anxiety, and that often leads to him seeming harsh and abrasive. He's out of his element with his girl, which means their journey from strangers to reluctant friends to lovers takes some time. This is a true slow burn to SIZZLE, with a focus on the emotional connection before the spice kicks in. There might've actually been too much spice in the back half, lol, though I'm not really gonna complain about that. I didn't mind the page count at all - I was fully immersed in this love story, eagerly waiting to see how things progressed between them. It was very strong for a debut novel, that's for sure, and I'm excited to see what's next from the author. I loved it!

The story follows Marisa, a woman whose life is falling apart. She just lost her boyfriend, her job, and her home in quick succession, so Marisa finds herself moving to the small town her estranged father lives in. It's only a temporary solution while she gets back on her feet, but things just keep getting worse. After a run-in with a moody grump, Marisa is dismayed to discover that the man is her new neighbor. Marisa meets Ethan at his worst, when his anxiety shortens his temper and loosens his tongue. The friction between the two builds, until suddenly they find themselves becoming reluctant friends. As Marisa gets to know Ethan better, she realizes that there's a quiet, tender man buried beneath that grumpy exterior, and his friendship quickly becomes an important part of her life. But Marisa is only in town until she finds a new job, and that means moving beyond friendship is a terrible idea.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this, but I'm always up for a strangers to lovers romance, particularly when the hero is grumpy - that's like catnip for me. So this grabbed my attention immediately, even when Ethan made an awful first impression. I loved getting to know him better, and I also loved that Marisa didn't let him get away with anything. She's a strong heroine, and that's exactly what he needed. The two were great together, and watching them slowly fall was an absolute treat. The representation of a biracial (Mexican and white) heroine was very good, as the author has also lived that experience. I liked seeing mental health rep for a hero as well, which I don't see very often. Marisa becomes a safe space for Ethan, and that made for some truly swoony moments. I loved the way Ethan and Marisa's relationship progressed at its own speed. There was just enough tension to keep things interesting, building up to quite the sizzle. There were a couple of really minor things that bugged me, but nothing to detract from my reading experience. I had a fantastic time getting lost in this world.

“We're cuddled up, making a Pinterest board, and it's so incredibly domestic. I love us. I love who we are together. We're a strange mix, a rare blend. Two people who shouldn't be compati-ble, yet somehow our jagged edges seamlessly align, fitting together in a way that feels both effortless and extraordinary.”

Marisa has just lost her job and got cheated on by none other than her boss/ex boyfriend and having no money to keep paying her loans and having no place to stay with no income coming in, she is forced to call her estranged dad for help and forced to move to where her dad lives just until she gets back on her feet. In this new town, she meets grumpy neighbor and CEO of Ledger Estate Winery and Vineyards, Ethan who was also cheated on by his ex and now he’a guarded and wants to be left alone but the last thing he expected was to fall for Marisa. Will Marisa leave her old life behind and move to Red Mountains with Ethan or was moving to Red Mountains a big mistake? will Marisa up and leave since that was the plan since the beginning as this new town was just temporary.

First and foremost, for a debut novel this was written so well and had me falling in love immediately with this small town and it’s characters specifically Gavin 🥰 can’t wait til the rest of the Red Mountain series becomes available, I need more books about Gavin of course but also of his sister Elle and her ex bf Dom, it sounded like there was more than Elle led on and I’m intrigued to know their full history to say the least.
This is the first book I read that takes place in a winery setting and I’m not complaining about it, iykyk 🥵
Anxiety representation was well done with Ethan and Marisa understanding him and comforting him by asking for them to go for a walk so that Ethan could get a breather to get away from these large crowds and events for a bit was honestly one of my favorite scenes 😭❤️ Ethan and Marisa had me swooning from beginning to the end so many wholesome moments 🦋 loved their chemistry and the banter was top tier. The Epilogue was just what I wanted it to be, perfect how they came back to the scene they met at!

I read the e-book version and I absolutely adored this book, so much so that I’ll be purchasing the physical copy. 💕 Thank you for introducing these characters to me, they are everything and definitely one of my favorite reads of 2024. <33 Also huge thank you to the author for my e-book copy for my honest review.

Ethan and Marisa were perfect! These two are so perfect for each other & I loved how relatable they were! The anxiety rep was done so well too! Ethan was just the cutest, even if all his grumpiness!

Michelle’s writing is so so good, I can’t believe this was a debut! It really pulls me in, and wanting more. I just know that the rest of this series will be just as good 🫶🏼
