Father Crows Best: A Four-Legged Cupid Story Kindle Edition
I’d made up my mind a long time ago. I wasn’t chasing after the wildlife vet.
Sure, he’s handsome. Sexy. And I absolutely have a competence kink.
But he left after high school, and never came back. That was that. He made his choices, I made mine. Life goes on.
Okay, well obviously he came back. But that was two years ago, and he didn’t seek me out. Our past is past, and I’m fine with that.
So when I see the crow who hangs out in my yard get hit by a car, I’m hardly going to use avoiding the wildlife vet as an excuse to let the bird suffer.
If only I’d known when I picked him up and brought him in, how the damn feathered menace would pay me back for helping him.
I’m sure both Bill and I would have been perfectly happy to let bygones be bygones.
The damn crow thought he knew better.

About the author

Lost. Broken. Found…loved. Romance for all.
Jaime is a plaid-hearted Canadian who spends the long cold winters writing stories about love between
men and the too-short summers digging in the garden. There are dust bunnies in the corners of her
house—which she blames on a husky named Kai.
There are dishes on the counter—which is clearly because teenagers! There is hot coffee in the pot and the occasional meal to keep her from starving—because her husband is remarkable and patient.
A multi-published author whose work has been translated into French, Italian and German, Jaime delights in the intricate dance of words that leads her through tales of the lost and broken-hearted men she writes about, to the love stories that find and mend them.
And when the muse is being stubborn, she also makes pretty things with yarn and fabric scraps because in her world, no heart is too broken to love, and nothing is too worn or tired it can’t be upcycled into something beautiful. All it takes is determination and the ability to see life a little bit left of centre.

- Reviewed in the United States on December 31, 2024Well written story and well developed characters. This series is best enjoyed if you read them in the correct order. People and places cross over quite a bit. I am really enjoying this series and plan to keep on reading them!

Second-chance romance is one of my favorite tropes, and I loved Bill and Hux together. Their backstory kept me intrigued and I wondered how they would find their way back together. I soon got the answer: Funk the crow. Yes, the supporting cast was good as always, but my favorite character by far was Funk. Funk the crow stole the show for sure. I loved his antics and the role he played in the relationship and in the overall story.
While I did miss the paranormal aspects present in the first two stories, this is a very sweet novella and a great addition to a series I am very much enjoying, and I look forward to reading more in this world.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 3, 2024This is a "new to me" author and this is the first of her books that I've had the chance to read, and I am SO glad I did! Second chances, animals, vulnerable main characters, this book has it all. Highly recommend!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 1, 2024I was given a copy of this book and this is my honest review.
Huxley and Bill grew up together as friends and became more along the way. When Bill left town to go to university and Hux stayed home it ended their relationship. Through miscommunication and pure stubbornness they let ten years go by. Bill has been back in town for two years and they still haven't cleared the air. Now Hux needs a wildlife vet and there's only Bill available. Through the care of Funk (an injured crow) they get their second chance at happiness.
This is a cute second chance romance with miscommunication issues. I liked Hubert the grumpy goose and Funk the crow. I liked that Hux has a great family that's supportive and welcoming of Bill. It was nice seeing Leland back. I would've liked a little more romance, as there wasn't much and the little there was is tepid. I missed the paranormal aspects that were in the first two books of this series. All in all a nice, short read.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2024I am a fan of this author and I really enjoyed this book. It's an easy quick read, with a happy ending. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to relax with a good romance.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2024This is a cute and quick read with a 2nd chance. Bill has been back in town for 2 years. His has been avoiding him until he couldn’t any longer. I enjoyed their story or reconnecting and loved the animal antics.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2024I loved this novella! Hux and Bill and of course Funk made this so worth reading. Bill and Hux may have gotten all stuffed up and lost their way when Bill went to vet school, but time and a meddling crow have ways of working things out the way they were meant to. I also loved the little cameo in there towards the end. This is a good read and the characters, both 2 and 4 legged and feathered, make this story sing.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 7, 2024Hux has waited for a decade for his best friend to acknowledge him after college and two years at a vet. clinic. Bill has waited two years since he returned to his home town. Now Hux has an injured crow to help heal and now the two men are determined to set up a wild animal sanctuary on Hux's family farm. Lots of feels and conversation as the two endure a slow burn before they finally come together.

4.0 out of 5 stars Second chance
Shortish story, fun and a nice second chance at love after some miss communication in the past.
I liked all of the characters but hands down, Funk the crow definitely stole the show. That bird... I was laughing out loud more than once at what he got up to.
I was entertained and enjoyed the book, what more can I ask for.
