If this adapter came with instructions I've managed to loose 'em so I just looked over the product information page, applied a little common sense (I goofed in one respect) and then went on to fill a couple of "disposable" 1lb canisters. My one goof, at least as far as I know) was setting up the filling station inside my shop, I had all the doors opened with overhead fans running but I should have set it up outdoors completely away from any structures. At any rate, it was easy to fill two canisters. Simple hookups after cleaning the threads (rusty) on the canisters. I set the inverted 20lb tank on top of a workbench with the valve assembly exposed underneath. I then connected the 1lb canister and opened the valve. Initially it only filled the canister about half full (I didn't have a scale but I could tell by the weight that it wasn't near full). After shutting the valve off and undoing the canister, I relieved the interior pressure by depressing the nozzle where the adapter fits until it released a small amount of propane. I then reconnected it to the adapter, opened the valve and did a refill. That did it. The canister was full or nearly so. I ordered this adapter not so much because of the cost of the canisters but due to the cost of recycling the canisters. Where I live, Central Arkansas, it costs nearly as much, if not more, to properly dispose of the canisters as it does to buy new ones. Refilling the empties will save me money both on the cost of buying new and the cost of disposing of the used canisters. A win-win. Recommended. Also recommend watching a couple of videos on how to safely refill the empties.

Purchased in Nov 2023 and Dec 13 2023 it failed at the control valve. Is this normal and do you replace a gasket? I don't recommend this item if you are looking for longevity. Maybe I got a bad on? I am nervous to get another one after the leak and danger it caused. I was litterally grasping the 20lb and 1lb tank carrying it away from the shop... opened garage door. It was spraying liquid propane... freezer burns and such. Not there fault on that, but it was exhilarating none the less.

If you use propane camp gear you need this! Buy an adaptor kit and the brass screw on caps for your bottles and save LOTS OF MONEY! Instead of $8 to $10 for a one pounder you are paying $1.50 or so like when you refill bbq tank!
