Overall, I love this product. I've owned at least two other electric trimmers (Panasonic and Wahl) and have been pleased with them for the most part. The main drawback is that they are not very travel friendly due to their size and battery needs. The Groom Mate is MUCH smaller and doesn't require batteries. It is made like a tank. I don't foresee ever having a problem with it, unless the blades dull over time. It does take a little getting used to (as other reviewers have mentioned). First, it makes no noise, so you can't tell if you're actually cutting anything. Insert and turn the handle is simple enough, but you really have no idea what you've trimmed until you take it out and look in the mirror. Next, I guarantee at some point, you'll experience the dreaded "caught but not cut" hair incident and it will bring tears to your eyes. I suppose the best way to avoid this is to make sure you turn the handle briskly and make sure you complete the turn before removing the trimmer from your nose. I'm not sure what makes the engine backfire (so to speak), but it hurts like hell when it happens. Considered yourself warned. I will continue to use it, because it does work well, it does allow you to reach areas that the electric trimmers don't, and I'm still getting the hang of it. It's defiantly worth the money.

I have tough hairs, so electric groomers generally pull the hairs and are very painful. This cuts and almost never pulls even my tough hairs. It is quality built and does the job. It doesn't however cut the hair really close to the skin, so if you are looking for a really close cut, hair groomers like this (or any of this design, electric or not), this isn't it. But it does the job of grooming well, it is easy to use (although you have to use both hands), will last probably forever, and is tiny and easy to travel with, carry, or store.

Overall, a quick and safer alternative to little scissors, and it doesn't pull like electric ones (almost never), but of course can't cut as close to the skin as scissors/razors can. So, good for quick daily grooming of nose or ear hair.

I can't give this a bad review because of the amazing customer service. It's convenient, portable, and durable. However, this product is not for me. When it first arrived it was seized and it took great effort to make it operate and function. It still is rather difficult to turn, and it pulls my hairs rather than cutting them. Maybe mine was defective or something. If you want to try this product, don't be afraid to. Groom Mate is a very reputable company, and true to their word.

Its well made heavy duty,but some how at least one nose hair will get, i don't know how, stuck in between the blade and the out side wall. also im not coordinated enough to hold it and twist the bottom with out moving it around. i think this is how the hair gets in between the blade. i know its got the warranty but i just bough a electric one. its a lot easier to push a button on and let it work than trying to mess with this thing ripping my nose hare out

Well made, works great. But, I understand why some people complain it snags hair. It's easy, but you have to develop a slightly different technique to avoid the hair pulls.

With a battery powered clipper, you just turn it on and move it around. That is nice. With this beautiful little machine, however,
- first, position it,
- then turn, turn, turn,
- then stop turning,
- then move it to a new position.
Repeat until your nose is nice and clean.

So, no batteries, take it anywhere, it will last forever.

Great item that meets, if not exceeds, my expectations. Easy to use, and it works. The stainless steel is a huge plus. Prior to receiving this I would have to oil my battery/electric side-burn trimmer occasional for the job, as the blades tend to built up rust and freeze when turned on. This use to be a Sunday evening chore for me, but now I just check daily, and if need be I do a quick job in about 20-30 seconds. I like the fact that you can dis-assemble the entire unit for a thorough cleaning if you wish. Although not necessary, I like the leather case. The unit is tiny, but once again it works. It takes up essentially no room when packing for a trip. I've only used this for a couple of weeks, but if it keeps up the current performance, it gets an A+ in my book.

REMOVE and REPLACE THE GREASE!

I initially hated this trimmer. The heavy viscosity grease that’s loaded between the turning parts made it difficult to turn. After having this for more than 2 years, I decided to disassemble it and removed the old grease and re-lubricate it with a lower viscosity lubricant — now it’s perfect. My next action is to attach it to a small drill so I don’t need to crank it by hand. This will provide the quality and durability of this life-time trimmer, with the convenience of a powered trimmer because it’s a hassle to do it by hand. And yes, you will grab hairs if you don’t cut all the way through, pinch a hair and move the trimmer. I always pull at least one hair. They should make one with a 1/4” hex driver attachment! :-)
