The kind of poetry to revisit in each new season
5 Stars
The kind of poetry to revisit in each new season
We already had (and loved) a few of Lexie Yut's childrens' books in our home library, so when she released a collection of poems I ordered it right away. I read it cover to cover with a cup of tea, and I keep it near my desk to pull inspiration from. It's the kind of book of poems that is effortless to consume, and lands in a new personal way each time I pick it up depending on the season I am in. She's really put herself out there, and offered art that her readers can make their own. The drawings are stunning and thought provoking. This is a great book to gift to any poetry lover, or to a creative looking for inspiration.

"Blossom & Burn" is a rollercoaster of emotions, nailing the highs and lows of life. Lexie spills her guts, making personal experiences feel universal. The language is like music, rhythmic and vivid. It's a raw, honest dive into messy feelings—love, heartbreak, and self-discovery. Lexie's honesty & courage to bare it all makes this more than a book of poems; it's a connection to life's chaos. If you want poetry that hits you in the gut and makes you feel alive, this collection is a must-read. It's not just a book; it's a journey through the human experience, condensed into a powerful ride.

This is a true work of art! The poems really moved me. This collection of poems allows us as readers to not only delve into the emotional journey of the writer, but to feel/ relate to all the big feelings (positive or negative) in our own journey.

10/10 recommend!

Can’t wait to share with my kids as they get older and we talk more about emotional intelligence and how to feel your feelings.

Lexie leaves no stone unturned in the path of her pain, loss, resurgence, and blossoming. Her poems make you pause with deep feelings while also weaving in her sense of joy and comedy. A powerful tale of deep heartbreak and how coming back home to one's self feels triumphant and full. Highly recommend it, especially if you are a fellow poet and a fan of modern and contemporary poetry like myself.

Lexie’s poetry is beautifully written and wonderfully relatable! I loved the accompanying illustrations and the companion playlist of music at the beginning! These poems are a great read for everyone, but I think they’ll be particularly meaningful to women and teens/young adults!
