About the Author

Karen Pence is a former congressional spouse, first lady of Indiana, and second lady of the United States. She worked as a schoolteacher for more than thirty years and started her own watercolor business. She is also the mother of three married children and a grandmother. She lives with her family in Zionsville, Indiana.

Karen Pence, former Second Lady of the United States and former First Lady of Indiana is a

mother, educator, and watercolor artist. She created the Indiana First Lady’s Charitable

Foundation established to encourage and support youth and families of Indiana. As Second

Lady, Mrs. Pence was committed to raising awareness of the profession of art therapy. She

also launched a nationwide campaign to elevate and encourage our nation’s military

spouses.

Mrs. Pence earned a B.S. and M.S. in Elementary Education from Butler University. She is a

Blue Star mom. Mrs. Pence and Vice President Mike Pence have been married since 1985 and

are proud parents of their adult children, Michael and his wife Sarah, Charlotte and her

husband Henry, and Audrey and her husband Dan. The Pences have three granddaughters

and live in Indiana.

I love that Karen states this book isn't her memoir but an encouragement to all of us as she shows how God used her only after He prepared her for her next calling. And I agree with her that He will do that for all of us. She shared sweet family memories and gave great insight into her political roles as Congressman's Spouse, the First Lady of Indiana and Second Lady of the USA. I also enjoyed the tidbits she shared at the beginning of each chapter about the bees. There were a couple of times later in the book where I did lose interest with all the places she travelled, but overall I enjoyed the book and have recommended it to my friends.
