Fun little book that I was able to read through the 12 days of Christmas. I was hoping there would have been more biographical information regarding the real Saint Nicholas but perhaps such details don't exist. Some of the historical bits of the book don't really seem to fit the narrative, even after re-reading them, and I'm not sure why they were included. Still, a good read and I'm glad to have it in my library. May we all learn to keep Christmas well and celebrate the Christ!

I bought this book for my granddaughters! My 9 yr. old was already very well into it before they left our house! I heard about this book on Eagle Forum. Phyllis Schafley interview Bill Federer a well known historian. He did such a great job describing the book I knew I needed to by it for my granddaughter! I believe this is a book parents can read to their children and then the children can eventually read it on their own! If my 9 -10 yr old granddaughter can hardly put it down with in 30 min. of opening her gift, then any child should be able to enjoy it!!!

I’ve had a copy of this for years and bought this second copy as a lending copy.

Wow! I listened to several interviews of William J Federer but this book exceeds my expectations. He is such an historian and with so much insight about the observation of this holiday that so many take for granted. My eyes have been opened and I am so excited!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice pre-Christmas read!

So informative! It is a wonderful book that explains the evolution of a Saint from Asia minor St. Nicolas who rode on a horse and how he was reshaped and evolved through the ages to todays' Santa Claus. I highly recommend reading this book to parents. Its a nice history lesson.
