This book is amazing!! It validating, relatable and has so many amazing resources! I only wish I bought this in paperback first instead of Apple Audiobook! (So I could write inside of it and so I could see all of the images that I know are in the book)I will definitely be listening to this more than once or twice AND taking notes! I’ve been listening to it on the commute to work, while doing house work and any other time I can get it in! Get this book!

This book has done more for my understanding than anything or anyone else has. I am 59 and was diagnosed with ADD originally at 33 after discovering my son had it. Then I treated my diagnosis like a punchline. “Shiny objects, easily distracted” …ha, ha.
Much older now, I started to see depression becoming a larger part of who I was. Then anxiety followed. Concentration was at an all time low. I got on meds and sought counseling. Got this book. I read half of it and couldn’t put it down. I have tried to read other books only to get lost or bored in the descriptions. Tried a podcast that just kept talking about basically being a victim with no solutions. Thats not me.
This book clearly gives great examples of other who dealt with issues like I have and how her advice guided them through. There are practical exercises in here. Soutions everywhere! Cant tell you have many times I have read or listened and said, “Yes! Thats me!”
I would encourae anyone who has been diagnosed with ADHD, knows someone with it or suspects they may have it to get this book! Its a real easy read, quick and to the piint. No wasted worss, unlike this review!

This is a great book for those that have ADHD as well as family members of those with ADHD. It gave me a better understanding of ADHD and lot of insight into what life is like for my elementary age son. I have used it to explain ADHD to him and what makes his brain different from neurological people. It also has helpful ideas for managing ADHD symptoms. It has helped my son to feel more understood and we got a good laugh out of the "monkey monkey underpants" part.

I am an adult woman who has struggled with ADHD through my life. I still struggle with the embarrassment it has caused me and the pain of not being able to be who I thought I could become had I not had this monkey on my back--or brain? I have invested in different counselors and many books. I found out about this author from attending a seminar where she was the guest speaker. I am 63 years old and I have never found anything as enlightening and wonderful as this book and the wonderful doctor who wrote this book!! I will be forever grateful because not only do her explanations help you to understand your brain, but the ideas presented and the suggestions are SO helpful that I feel like I have FINALLY found REAL help!!! So much so that I donated my other books on the subject--and I had a small library full. I wish Dr. Rosier would write more. I want more! I want to learn more ways to manage my life and my self. While I am not through the whole book, it's been so helpful that I find myself savoring it and really, really thinking about what she's said.

I honestly don't recall anything religious about this book. I have found nothing offensive at all. Quite the opposite! If you're struggling and you're trying to understand yourself (or a family member or friend), and you're trying to help yourself, this is the book for you! It's a easy read yet very informative!! I will be eternally grateful to Dr. Rosier for her writings in Additude magazine and the guest appearance she made through the seminar which introduced me to her and her philosophies. Oh..one last thing..she has ADHD. She totally understands the struggles. She is very, very kind, supportive and compassionate.

One of the best books I've bought!!! SO happy!!! SO grateful!!!!

I like that the author explained ADHD really well by listing symptoms, how it effects people differently, and even more importantly, how to deal with it.
There are helpful tools and lots of personal stories in this book.
True to the title, there are strategies that the author shares that are well thought out.
This would be a very helpful book for anyone that has ADHD.

I appreciated the balance in this book - clear concepts; discussion of real issues for those with ADHD or those who love them - and what to do about it; practical application from actual coaching, and wonderful stories that give humanity to the challenges of this community (of which I am a part). I felt seen, valued - and hopeful. Marvelous balance of science, experience with actual clients, and anecdotes that were warm, inspiring and challenging.

Practical application tools - worksheets, questions, models - right in the book! The author could have made a companion workbook but included it all right here.

Rich, varied and diverse sources of research, information, metaphors, and examples - from Alice in Wonderland to research articles to sound theory to Dr. Who! And - written in a way so it doesn't bog down in just one area. A quick snippet of research to add credibility, the framing of a concept to build understand, then a story/anecdote to illustrate. Makes the book highly readable.

Well done. I highly recommend, and have not only read it twice myself, but also sent it out to a number of friends and colleagues. (And - can't seem to find the overt religiosity referenced by another review? Are we reading the same book? None of the other reviews seem mention it either?) A great read!

I was recently diagnosed with adult ADHD at age 35 and reading this book gave me a better understanding of what is going on with me. After reading it I understand better why I behave and react the way I do. I'm able to be less hard on myself and approach the things I struggle with from a different point of view and with the right tools. I strongly recommend this book, even if you don't have ADHD directly but it affects someone you love.

Really well written; easy to digest yet incredibly informative. No boring 20-page-intro, always straight to the point. As someone who's still at the beginning of their ADHD-journey I found this book very valuable - the author, who has ADHD too, shows the differences between neurotypical and neurodivergent brains very well without being discouraging. Reading the book made me feel optimistic and like I was handed a manual for my brain. :)

Written well ... easy to read ... most of it felt like it was written for my brain and I could completely relate. Other parts, I didn't relate to but that's the way ADHD works so it was fine for me and just increased my awareness. Reassured me about all those things I've been told are a little odd but work for me. I would recommend for an insight into the complications of motivation and ADHD - whether for yourself or a family member to help their understanding of you.
