The Great Seller's Playbook Kindle Edition
Learn the discipline of sales and use it as a tool for understanding what builds trust in a business setting. In the long run, the honest seller always wins, even if they lose some business in the short term. This book is not a silver bullet. It is, however, a straightforward explanation of what to expect in sales, with strategies you can use to build trust with buyers.
These principals are based on lessons from my career which have been with me for 15 years. They center around four basic questions:
What is a seller?
What should a seller be?
What should a seller do?
What should a seller not do?

How customer reviews and ratings work
Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.
To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyzed reviews to verify trustworthiness.

Very useful outline of the basics of selling, from both a career expectations standpoint as well as helpful guides on the many pitfalls of a sales cycle, and how to identify/address them. I'm a salesperson and I found the Value Wedge and Decision Matrix exercises very applicable. I also enjoyed the author's story about how he arrived at a sales career despite a different initial career path, I think many salespeople will relate as well.

This book gave me great insight into the inner workings of a successful sales cycle. Broken down into meaningful segments of complex topics, Joe Barhoum does an exceedingly excellent job of providing value without extraneous details or fluff. Whether or not you're in sales, this book will guide you through a more wholistic understanding of how sales should be done and increase overall business acumen. I keep it in my desk drawer and refer back to it often! Lessons learned will serve me throughout my future and this book is a keeper. As a marketer, my ability to strategize messaging through the lens of pain points and what a buyer is looking for will continue to be valuable - would recommend this book to anyone!

This book has been very insightful in the world of sales. It has all the details needed to make an impact in this line of work. Professor Barhoum has been able to translate his journey into a blueprint for young sale driven adults to become successful just like he was. I would compare it to the impact the book "The Goal" by Goldartt had for the OTM world. Both are very well structured and in a sense made easy for non business people to understand. A great book indeed!!

After reading this book I feel like I am way of head of my peers when it comes to sales. It provides a great blueprint designed by professionals on how to start and build a career in sales. There is zero nonsense in here and no advanced technical jargon that will have the reader lost and confused. This type of book can help anyone at any point in their career. I really enjoyed reading this book, thanks Joe!

As a recent college graduate in her first full-time career gig, The Great Sellers Playbook has been a really helpful guide for me to not only learn basic concepts but also to learn some lesser-known dos-and-don'ts of selling products and services. As a marketing major, I never thought I'd be doing a lot of selling, but I've found myself on more sales calls recently than I could have imagined, and I'm really thankful to have the skills and knowledge from this book.
Many of the textbooks and learning guides I read during my college career had a lot of fluff without any real substance, but Barhoum's book finds a perfect balance between quick, useful facts that you can adopt immediately and a thorough explanation of complex topics without the fluff. From "The Four Rules of Great Sellers" to useful acronyms that are easy to remember and implement, I think anyone could find something new to learn in this book. I'd especially recommend it to anyone in marketing, sales, or branding. I've greatly improved my sales strategy and abilities using many of the concepts I learned from Barhoum!

Joe clearly outlines what it takes to be a great seller and adds on to the previous advice that he provides for sellers in past books. For someone like myself who is looking to make my mark in sales, this is the perfect place to refer back to in order to be reminded of what it truly takes to be a great seller. Joe provides practical life advice that is applicable not just to sales but to relationships, networking, and dealing with adversity. Would highly recommend giving this book a read at least once but honestly to internalize the material I would recommend reading it 5-6 times to truly nail it down.

Skinny on content, bad Kindle formatting
Reviewed in Canada on May 8, 2024
I bought this after reading about the author on a blog. The book is a disappointment. The content is very (very) thin for the price. When you see content this flimsy, it's usually in a Kindle costing <$2 not $11. And the formatting is awful, looks very cheap. In some panels words are clipped off. Images are poorly set. I'm seeking a refund.
