I bought the classic Thermapen MK4 a few years ago, directly from the manufacturer. I'd seen a rave review done by America's Test Kitchen and out of frustration of dealing with completely inaccurate and slow thermometers for decades, I decided to give this one a try. The price was extremely high for a meat thermometer, but so is a high-quality steak, right? Why take a chance in overcooking your meats, or worse, making your family sick with undercooked poultry?! Right out of the box, this gadget worked like a charm. Super-fast, extremely accurate, and easy to use.Not only does this thing out-perform any of my other meat thermometers, but I even used it to prove that our AC was not balanced in our house when our contractor came back to inspect the new equipment. He was shocked that it measured the ambient, room air temp so well, and could clearly see the temperature climb from one room to another. He was so impressed that he had to get the name of it so he could get one! Ha ha. (Not sure if he meant to use it on the job, or if he wanted it for his BBQ). Anyway, this meat thermometer is well worth the higher price, and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND it for anyone who does a lot of grilling or cooking of meats and poultry.
