So far so good.

So far so good.
Just finished the garage door insulation kit. I was debating on how to place it up and not look hokey. I have seen in some posts that they just draped it right over the hardware and it looks horrible. Plus, potential insulating issues may possibly arise afterwards. Meaning the door is flexible and may pull and tear at the insulation when lifting or when the door is closing.. So I chose to cut on the panels and slightly drape over so it would overlap. Then, to make sure that the flaps do not bind, I took the pieces I cut, and used adhesive caulk, And doubled it up under the flaps so there would be a nice overlapping gap in between the panels. It took a little bit more extra time, but I think it came out well, and the ends do not fold back or bind up when opening or closing, which is key.The double sided adhesive roll that comes with the kit DOES NOT hold well..so forget using it all together. So I ended up using a combination of spray adhesive, and gorilla glue heavy duty construction adhesive in a caulk clear form. (I would recommend you get three tubes to make sure that everything sticks properly- and prevents you from wasting time going back and forth to the store).Keep in mind (for the average do it yourselfer) this is not a one day job if you’re working on it by yourself and you want to do it right. It will probably take two days possibly three, because it’ll take approximately 12 hours for the caulk to cure and harden. Also, just like me, I had to go back and recheck and make some minor corrections and adjustments the next day when some parts of the insulation didn’t line up perfectly when I first opened and closed the door…so: if you’re not handy, I would highly recommend having another person help ypu with this project. However, I did it myself and I took my time and I think it came out great.I would recommend that you take the hardware off. Not only will it prevent the panels from binding together, it will help keep the insulation intact as well as assisting in the insulation purposes from the beginning. Also, cosmetically speaking: it just looks so Much better than what it was from before. As of now, there is definitely a noise reduction when vehicles pass by my place. Also, we just had a very high wind storm last night, and usually through the panels I could feel wind coming through the seams of the garage door and that is most definitely reduced. As a side note: , the knife that they give you with the kit is really dull, (honestly it really sucks) so go by a very sharp box cutter Blade so it doesn’t rip and tear on you. I started using it and I thought “ what the….!?!?!?” Trash it….So, the other technicals: Came on time, was packaged well, and even if there is a couple degrees reduction in the summer, and it tends to keep the warmth in during the winter, then it did its job. I have noticed a change in the temperature with the southern sun exposure beating in. I didn’t have a digital thermometer laser gun (let the other reviews do that), but again, there is a difference. Also I noticed that on humid days, it’s not as bad as it was before, and there has been a reduction of that humidity since I put it up…Once again: I would recommend that this is a two-man job, but it can be done by one person. If you’re patient enough and like to work alone, you definitely can do it on your own. I did it as one person. Took me about a whole day (of actual hard work)to get all the hardware off and put back on and the roll panels out..Also make sure you have some rags and alcohol or a cleaning solution to wipe off the excess grease from the rollers on the track. Very important to keep that clean so everything sticks to the door properly. It can get very messy when mixing caulk with grease and white panels…so again, take your time and don’t rush the job if by yourself.Overall, quite happy with the product, we’ll see how it goes throughout the year. Once we start going into the cold months, I’m sure there will be a huge difference. I can tell it’s working in the summer to keep the heat from beating in. I can only assume that this principle holds true in the cold winter months.. well- good luck, hope my review helps you in getting prepared on what you need to do when handling this future project…Highly Recommend…

tl;dr - fairly priced kit with everything needed to insulate a 2 car garage door

    Pros:
    - Good quality
    - White outer shell looks nice, matches white garage door
    - Comes with everything needed, including how to contact seller 7 days a week

    Cons:
    - Instructions were fair, but left a lot up in the air
    - Tape was frustrating, but I had just enough to complete the install
    - Added weight to door, had to adjust upward force

Note: This is much harder than installing foam panels that you cut to fit.

I had to think about the best way to get maximum coverage. Took a little trial and error, but eventually got it.

My shipment arrived a week earlier than expected with was really nice.

    Install took about 4 hours.

I've had this installed for about a month and can say it's a great product, from an insulation perspective. I really does help moderate temperature. It appears to have some sound dumping qualities as well, at least enough to take the echo off a garage workshop.

However, your cannot expect to install this as directed. It'll never hold. The kit comes with double sided tape and a squeegee to press the foam into the tape. It says to use the tape on horizontal runs. I used it on horizontal and vertical runs. The take adhered to the garage door fine. The insulation never stuck to the tape. It was falling off in a day.

Luckily, I had watched some other install videos for this on YouTube and picked up a trick or two. If you take the hinges and other bolted on hardware off the garage door, run the insulation, then remount the hinges/hardware, the hardware will keep the insulation on. (Don't take all the hinges off at once. Take a couple off, mount a portion of insulation, remount the hinges, then move to the next section.) This is all that held my insulation on for about two or three weeks until the tape had total failure. I couldn't close the garage door because the insulation was drooping off the bottom of the door and tripping the door sensor. So I went back along every seam with construction adhesive, and that held the insulation on in between the hinges.

Running full lengths of foam across the door, under the hinges, and using a bit of construction adhesive really makes this look like a professional install. It works better too as the seal creates a true air pocket for better insulation. It's a tedious process, but easy and well worth it.

I can recommend the product, but also recommend tossing the tape, squeegee, and instructions. They'll only leave you disappointed.

This product seems to be holding up well. Installation was fairly easy - but important to follow directions exactly. I cleaned the places where tape would go first, and then stuck the tape. Left it there for overnight and a day to get tacky; It was a bit tedious when putting up the insulation. I did have to remove two horizontal bars that were wind braces - then I just put them back on over the insulation. Sometimes it was hard to peel the tape off, but bending a corner and having longer fingernails helped. I adhered a panel at a time. Starting from the top and working my way down. I did not pre-cut the panels and it worked out fine. The knife that comes with the kit does get dull, but it's the kind you can break away the blade by bits until it is sharp again. I felt like including two of those would have been ideal, but I had another box cutter I used to finish the job. As I was moving down the door adhering everything, I realized I would need a total of 5 sheets of the insulation, not 4. Originally I thought I could use the remnants from the other 4 panels to piece together enough for the last panel, but the pieces weren't big enough. Mike was quick to respond to my texts and call asking about ordering just one additional panel, but he sent me another panel of insulation free of charge - excellent customer service! So far the insulation seems stuck on there for good - the reviews that said it didn't stick or show it hanging off their door - they couldn't have followed the directions of letting the tape tack up first and then waiting to use the door after installation. It seems stuck so well, I don't think it will come off unless it is peeled off after several years. It's hard to tell yet if it is making much of a difference in temperature, as we waited until the summer cooled off to install, and now that we have, it has been rainy and cool. I'm sure it will. We also have two windows facing west that are only covered with blinds, (the garage is south facing), so those two windows need to be insulated as well, and then we should see a huge difference. Overall, very happy with product and ease of installation, and excellent customer service!

Insulation rolls for the panels are great however the two sided tape included for the installation is not as strong. The insulation started separating from the tape after day 3.

I reinstalled with an upgraded 3M tape and it was perfect. My garage gets all the afternoon sun until it sets. Certainly took the temperature down making it manageable during 90-100 temps verse being a sweat box, so I’m pleased. So pleased I added a ceiling fan to the garage 💯👍🏼✅🥳🍻😃

Was also able to tell a difference during the winter months of the bedroom over the garage. Definitely warmer and a game changer for me.

Performance of material is great. Easy to cut to fit. Tape could use an upgrade to acquire a better seal, to prevent from having to do it again. Excellent value for the money and easy weekend project.
